8 CHAIN TENSION (Including unit s with chain a lready inst alled) WAR N I N G : Wear protec tiv e glov es when handl ing chai n. The c hain is s harp and can c ut y ou ev en whe n it is not mov ing. NOTE: When adjus ting c hain tension, make s ure the bar knob is finger tight only.
9 OPER A T ING YOUR UN IT BEFORE ST ARTING ENGINE WAR N I N G : Be s ure to read the fuel information in the safet y rules before y ou be- gin. If you do not understand the safety rules , do not attempt to f uel your unit. Contact an authoriz ed ser vic e dealer .
10 OFF HALF CHOKE /F AST IDLE LE VER FULL 6. Pull the star ter rope s harply wit h your right hand until t he engine star ts. 7. Allow the engine to r un for approx imately 30 sec onds. T hen, squeez e and releas e throttle trigger to allow engine to r eturn to idle speed.
11 S Keep the engine at full s peed the entire time you ar e cutt ing. S Allow the c hain to cut for y ou. Ex ert only light downwar d press ure. S Releas e the throttle trigger as s oon as the cut is c ompleted, allowing the en- gine to idle. If you run the saw at full throttle without a c utting load, unnec es- sar y w ear c an occ ur .

13 S Be aler t for spr ingback . Watch out for branc hes that are bent or under press ure. Avoid being s truc k by the branch or the saw w hen the tens ion in the wood fibers is releas ed. S Keep a c lear wor k ar ea. F requently clear branc hes out of the way to av oid tripping over them.
