2 INSTALLATION REQUIR EMENTS T ools and P arts T ools Needed Gather the r equired tools and part s before starting installation. Read and follow the instructio ns provided with a ny tools listed here. Parts Supplied For reor der information, see “Replacement Parts” section.
3 Installation Dimensions NOTE: The grounded 3 prong outlet must be inside the upper cabinet. See “Electrical Requir ements” section. * 30" (76.2 cm) is typical for 66" (167.6 cm) install ation height. Exact dimensions may vary depend ing on type of range/cooktop below .
4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Remov e Mounting Plate NOTE: T o avoid possible damage to the work surface, cover the work surface. 1. Remove any remaining co ntents from the mi crowave oven cavity . 2. Remove the 2 scr ews that attach t he mounting plate to the back of the micr owave oven, then remove mounting plate and set aside.
5 6. Attach damper assembly to the r ear e xhaust vent opening by sliding it down int o the guides on both sides of the opening, and pushing it into the lower lockin g tabs. NOTE: Make sure the assembly is oriented correctly , with the hinge at the top, and the bla de opening away from th e microwave oven.
6 Locate W all Stud(s) NOTE: If no wall studs exist within the cabin et opening, do not install the microwave oven. See illustrat ions in “Possible W all Stud Configuratio ns.” 1. Using a stud finder , locate the ed ges of the wall stud(s) within the openin g.
7 5. With the suppor t tabs facing forw ard (see illustra tions in “Locate W all Stud(s)” section, align the mounting plate center marker to the centerline on the wall, making sur e its top edge is aligned with t he horizontal li ne drawn in Step 3.
8 Prepar e Upper Cabinet 1. Disconnect power to outlet. 2. Remove all contents fr om upper cabinet. 3. Place Upper Cabinet T emplate against th e bottom of the upper cabinet, and attach with ta pe or thumbtacks. Make sur e the template centerline ali gns with the v ert ical centerline on the rear wall.
9 6. Push microwave oven against mount ing plate a nd hold in place. NOTE: If microwave ove n does not need to be adjusted, skip steps 7-9. 7. If adjustment is requir ed, ro tate micr owave oven downward. Using 2 or more people, lift microwave oven off of mounting plate, and set aside on a cover e d surface.
10 V ENTING DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS This section is i ntended fo r arch itectural designer and builder/contractor refer ence only . NOTES: ■ V ent materials needed for instal lation are not pr ovided with microw ave hood. ■ W e do not recommend using a flexible metal vent.
11 Recommended V ent Length A 3 ¹⁄₄ " x 10 " (8.3 x 25.4 cm) r ectangular or 6 " (15.2 cm) round vent should be used. The total lengt h of the vent sys tem includin g straight vent , elbow(s), transitions and wall or roof caps must not exc eed the equivalent of 140 ft (42.
