What is wa ter hardness? Hard water is water with a high conc entration of minerals such as calcium and magnesium. In soft water , this concentration is low . W ater hardness varies by geographical location. How does water hardness affect dishwashing? Hard water can be detrimental to the pef ormance of your DishDrawer .
W ash programmes Detergent quantities Find out about wat er hardness in your home, then use the table belo w to deternine how much detergent to use f or each wash programme. See also section ‘Water har dness and dishwashing’ . The detergent dispenser has markings to help you measur e the correct quantities.
Impor tant! Only use powdered detergent recommended for domestic automatic dish washers in the detergent dispenser . Dishw asher detergents are strongly alkaline. They c an be extremely dangerous if swallowed. Av oid contact with the skin and eyes and keep children and infirm persons aw ay from the DishDrawer when it is open.
Using tablets Impor tant! W e do not recommend using dishw asher tablets in USA and Canada models. The pre-w ash cycle in these models would dissolve the tablet, reducing the cleaning pow er left for the main wash. If you are using tablets, w e highly recommend you use the standard Normal or Heavy programmes only .
Rinse aid dispenser W e highly recommend the regular use of liquid rinse aid to g ive the best drying results. Rinse aid gives a streak-fr ee, sparkling clean look to glass and chinaware. In addition, it prev ents metal from tarnishing. The rinse aid dispenser is on the inside of the drawer , located underneath the detergent dispenser .
Setting up the water softener Impor tant! Only some models (DD24-H and DD60-H) have a built-in w ater softener. Models with water softener are not currentl y available in New Z ealand and Australia. Determine the water hardness in your local ar ea Y our local water company will be able t o provide you with inf ormation.
W ater softener Notes: If your water hardness is abov e 625ppm, we highly recommend you c ompletely fill the appropriate compartment(s) of the detergent dispenser for all pr ogrammes except Rinse and the rinse aid setting should be at 5. If your water hardness is abov e 625ppm, the wash per formanc e of your DishDrawer® will decline .
W ater softener Impor tant! The water softener must alw ays be filled with granular salt made especially for dishw asher water softening systems. W e do not recommend the use of cooking salt lik e table salt, rock salt or pellets as they may contain impurities that will impair or diminish the life of the w ater softener.
The following options can be adjust ed to suit your pref erences: Rinse aid setting Reduce the Rinse aid setting if there is excess f oam after a wash programme or if you ar e using dishwasher tablets with built-in rinse aid.
