4 MARKZT OOLS PREFERENCES MARKZT OOLS MENU Select the Markzw are Men u located in the Main Menu bar of QuarkXPr ess, then select the “ MarkzT ools™ ” Menu item.

6 MARKZT OOLS FUNCTIONS CONVER T DOCUMENT FILE Select the “ Con v er t Document File ” men u item fr om the MarkzT ools menu and an Open dialo g will be presented allo wing y ou to choose the desired file y ou wish to con v er t.
7 T ext Attr ibutes Use Styles: Use this option to con v er t all text stor ies by r etaining their or ig inal Character and P arag raph style attr ibutes.
8 La y out Use the La y out menu to select the La y out y ou wish to con v er t. An aster isk (*) will indicate the document’s Default La y out. Choose “ All La y outs ” to either merge All La y outs into a single Pr oject or to activ ate and select “ Cr eate Separate Pr ojects.
9 SAL V A GE DOCUMENT FILE Select the “ Salv age Document File ” men u item to instr uct MarkzT ools to attempt to r eco v er a cor r upted document. Use this method if “Con v er t Document” is not su ccessful. The Salv age function will b ypass specific complex elements in the document whi ch indi vidually could be cor r upted.
10 EXTRA CT TEXT FR OM DOCUMENT FILE Select the “ Extract T ext from Documen t File ” menu item and an Open dialo g will be pr esented allo wing y ou to choose the desir ed file fr om which y ou w ould lik e to scan, find and extract text.
11 Stor ies: Select “ Stor ies ” to instr uct MarkzT ools to locate a text stor y . Y ou should tr y using this method first. [Block Read]: Select “ [Block Read] ” in or der to locate ra w ASCII data b y going thr ough each ph ysical Block of the file .
12 CONVER T IMA GE PREVIEWS T O GRA Y Select the “ Con v er t Imag e Pre views to Gra y ” menu i tem in or der set all pictur e bo x pr evie ws to a simple Gra y .
13 EXPOR T PR OJECT T O VERSION 4 Select the “ Expor t Pr oject to V er sion 4... ” menu item and a Sa v e dialog will be pr e- sented allo wing y ou to select the desir ed destination for y our ne w V er sion 4 document. The r e- sulting file(s) will be named starting with “Q4_.
