11 ENGLISH B ASIC OPERA TION 7 P ower Up the CR401 Before connecting the mains cord, complete all connections ( ☞ page 8 to 10). 1. Connect the mains cord to a suitable wall outlet. • The CR401 enters Standby mode, and the Standby indicator comes on.
12 ENGLISH CD OPERA TION PLA YING CD 1. Press the POWER ON/STANDBY switch q or button z to turn on the power. 2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE 0 button r to open the disc tray, put the CD on the tray with the label-side facing up, and press the OPEN/CLOSE 0 button r again to close the tray.
13 ENGLISH CD OPERA TION 7 Random Playbac k Use the Random function to play tracks in random order. 1. While stopped, press the MODE button , repeatedly to display “ D-Rdm ” indicator. 2. Press the PLAY 2 button ¤5 to start random playback. • All tracks are played in random order.
14 ENGLISH CD OPERA TION DISPLA YING INFORMA TION This section explains how to display various information, including the remaining track time, remaining disc time, and ID3 tag for MP3 tracks. 1. During playback, press the DISPLAY button ¤8 repeatedly to cycle through the following options.

19 ENGLISH 7 Muting the CR401 Use this function to mute the output of the CR401 temporarily. 1. Press the MUTE button m . • The output is muted and “ Muting ” flashes on the display. 2. To unmute the CR401, press the MUTE button m again, or adjust VOLUME 5∞ button ¤7 .
20 ENGLISH O THER OPERA TION TIMER PR OGRAMS 7 About the Timer Pr ograms • This unit has three timer programs so that you can turn it on and off automatically at certain times and on certain days of the week.
