7 Selecting the action mode Rotation with hammering F or dr illing in concrete, masonry , etc., depress the lock b ut- ton and rotate the change le ver so that the pointer points to the symbol.
8 Indicator lamp The green pow er-ON indicator lamp lights up when the tool is s witched ON. If the indicator lamp is lit but the tool does not star t, the carbon brushes may be worn out, or the electr ic cir- cuit or the motor ma y be defectiv e.
9 Bit grease (optional accessory) Coat the bit shank head bef orehand with a small amount of bit grease (about 0.5 -1 g; 0.02 - 0.04 oz.). This chuc k lubr i- cation assures smooth action and longer ser vice lif e. Installing or removing the bit Clean the bit shank and apply bit grease bef ore installing the bit.
10 For chipping, scaling or demolishing With the cut in the bit shank aligned with the notch in the tool holder cap , inser t the bit into the tool holder. The chuck co ver will slide up automatically and cov er the mark. After installing, alwa ys make sure that the bit is securely held in place by trying to pull it out.
11 Depth gauge The depth gauge is conv enient for drilling holes of unif or m depth. Inser t the depth gauge into the hole in the grip base. Adjust the depth gauge to the desired depth and then tighten the clamp screw to secure the depth gauge .
12 Chipping/Scaling/Demolition Set the change le ver to the symbol. Hold the tool firmly with both hands. T urn the tool on and apply slight pressure on the tool so that the tool will not bounce around, uncontrolled. Pressing ve r y hard on the tool will not increase the efficiency .
13 Lubrication CA UTION: • This serv icing should be perf or med by Makita A uthor ized or F actory Ser vice Centers only . This tool requires no hourly or daily lubr ication because it has a grease-pac ked lubrication system. It should be relubr i- cated after e very 6 months of operation.
14 Connect the two terminals and reinstall the handle. CA UTION: • Do not tighten the crank cap e xcessively . It is made of resin and is subject to breakage. • Be careful not to damage the terminals or lead wires especially when wiping out the old grease or installing the handle.
