7 Installing or removing wheel guar d CA UTION: • When using a depressed center grinding wheel/Multi- disc, wire wheel brush or cut-off wheel, the wheel guard must be fitted on the tool so that the closed side of the guard alwa ys points toward the oper ator.
8 Installing or removing abrasive disc (optional accessory) NO TE: • Use sander accessories specified in this manual. These must be purchased separately . Mount the rubber pad onto the spindle. Fit the disc on the rubber pad and screw the loc k nut onto the spindle.
9 Grinding and sanding operation AL W A YS hold the tool fir mly with one hand on rear handle and the other on the side handle. T ur n the tool on and then apply the wheel or disc to the workpiece. In general, keep the edge of the wheel or disc at an angle of about 15 degrees to the workpiece surf ace.
10 • AL W A YS use guard with wire wheel br ushes, assuring diameter of wheel fits inside guard. Wheel can shatter during use and guard helps to reduce chances of personal injur y . Unplug tool and place it upside down allowing easy access to spindle.
11 Replacing carbon brushes Remov e and check the carbon brushes regularly . Replace when they we ar down to the limit mark. Keep the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use only iden- tical carbon brushes.
