10 Graduation on right side of tool base The right side of the tool base is graduated in inches. The “ 0 ” graduation indicates the position of the b lade edge when the depth of cut is set at the deepest position. Use this gradua- tion when perfo r ming plunge cuts (pock et cutting).
11 Removing or installing sa w blade CA UTION: • Be sure the blade is installed with teeth pointing up at the front of the tool. • Use only the Makita wrench to install or remov e the bla de. T o remove the b lade, first remov e the clamping screws which secure the dust bo x, then remove the dust bo x.
12 Hold the tool firmly . The tool is provided with both a front grip and rear handle. Use both to best gr asp the tool. If both hands are holding saw , they cannot be cut by the blade. Set the base on the workpiece to be cut without the blade making any contact.

14 Replacing carbon brushes Remov e and check the carbon brushes regularly . Replace when they we ar down to the limit mark. Keep the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use only iden- tical carbon brushes.
