7 T o install the blades, first clean out all chips or f oreign matter adhering to the dr um or b lades. Use blades of the same dimensions and weight, or drum oscillation/vibration will result, causing poor planing action and, e ventually , tool breakdown.
8 For the correct planer blade setting Y our planing surf ace will end up rough and unev en, unless the blade is set properly and securely . The b lade must be mounted so that the cutting edge is absolutely le vel, that is, parallel to the surf ace of the rear base.
9 Chamfering T o make a cut as shown in the figure , align the “ V ’’ gr oove in the front base with the edge of the workpiece and plane it as shown in the figure. 10 First, loosen the two wing nuts on the holder and insert the blades (A) and (B), so that the y contact the sides (C) and (D). Then tighten the wing nuts. Immerse the dressing stone in water f or 2 or 3 minutes bef ore shar pening. Hold the holder so that the blades both contact the dressing stone f or simultaneous shar pening at the same angle.
