8 For the correct planer blade setting Y our planing surface will end up rough and une v en, unless the blade is set properly and securely . The blade must be mounted so that the cutting edge is absolutely le vel, that is, parallel to the surf ace of the rear base.

10 Replacing carbon brushes Remov e and check the carbon brushes regularl y . Replace when they w ear down to the limit mark. Keep the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use only iden- tical carbon brushes.
