Play able Discs 7 Pla yable Discs This D VD Pla yer will pla y Digital Video Discs (D VDs), Audio Compact Discs (CDs), finalized D VD Recordables and D VD Rewritables (D VD+R and D VD+R W), MP3 or JPEG Files on finalized CD Recordables or CD Re writables (CD-R or CD-R W), and Video Compact Discs (VCDs).
8 Remote Contr ol Setup Using the Remote Contr ol Po int the remote control at the D VD Pla yer’ s remote sensor (see page 1 9) when using the remote to operate the Pla y er . Aim the remote to ward the Pla yer , not your TV . Do not put objects between the r emote and the Pla yer .
Hookups 9 Depending on your TV and other equipment, ther e are various wa ys to connect the D VD Play er . Use only one of the connections described in the following pages. Befor e you begin... ● Refer to the manuals of y our TV or Stereo . Note the style of jacks and connectors on the other equipment.
Before you begin, make sure you have an RF modulator and e xtra RF coaxial cables. These are not supplied with the Player , but are available fr om Magnavo x or most consumer electronics retailers . 1 Connect the supplied video cable (y ello w) to the Pla yer’ s y ellow VIDEO OUT jack and to the VIDEO IN jack on the RF modulator .

1 6 Playing a Disc Befor e you begin, turn on the power of the TV , stereo , and any other equipment connected to the D VD Pla yer . Make sure the TV and the stereo (if applicable) ar e set to the corr ect channel. Details are on pages 8- 1 5. 1 Press ST ANDBY -ON y y to turn on the Pla yer .
Remote Contr ol Buttons 1 7 A-B REPEA T Button Press to set up A-B Repeat pla yback, which r epeatedly pla ys a specific segment of a Disc. Details are on page 27. MARKER Button Press to see the Mark ers, which give y ou quick access to points on a Disc you select.

20 Rear P anel • Y ou only need one audio connection and one video connection, so you will not ha ve a cable connected to ev er y jack. For example, if you are using the S- VIDEO OUT jack, you will not use the yello w VIDEO OUT jack or the Y C R /P R C B /P B COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks.
Title Menu Some D VDs ha ve a Title Menu, which lists the Titles available on the Disc. Use the Title Menu to pla y a specific Title . 1 Press TITLE. The Title Menu will appear . If a Title menu is not a vailable , the “X” ma y appear on the TV screen.
22 P aused and Step-b y-Step Playback, Resume On P aused and Step-by-Step Pla yback 1 During Disc pla yback, pr ess P AUSE F . Pla yback will pause and the sound will be mute. ● Pressing P AUSE F once during DU AL PLA YBACK will pause a JPEG pla yback only .
F ast Forw ard/Re ver se Search 23 1 During pla yback, pr ess SEARCH g or h on the remote contr ol. ● During D VD pla yback, pressing SEARCH g or h will forward or r ev erse the picture at a pproximatel y 2, 8, 20, 50, or 1 00 times the normal speed.
Zoom Zooming lets you enlarge the pla yback image of D VDs, Video CDs, or JPEG CDs, and lets you pan thr ough the enlarged image. 1 Press ZOOM during pla yback or when pla yback is paused. The pictur e will appear twice as large. Press ZOOM again to mak e the picture f our times larger than normal.
There ar e three wa ys to pla y an Audio CD , MP3, JPEG, or Video CD (without PBC) T rack. Use the Number buttons, SEARCH MODE, or PREV and NEXT 3 . A Using the Number Buttons Press the Number buttons to enter a T rack number . Pla yback will star t at the selected T rack.
Time Pla yback 1 During D VD , Audio CD , or Video CD (without PBC) pla yback, pr ess SEARCH MODE until the Time Search displa y appears. 2 Within 30 seconds, use the Number buttons to enter the elapsed pla ying time (of the curr ent T rack or Title) at which you want pla yback to begin.
Repeat Playback, A-B Repeat 27 Repeat Pla yback 1 During D VD , Audio CD , MP3, JPEG, or Video CD (without PBC) pla yback, press REPEA T until the r epeat mode you want appears on the TV . On a D VD , select CHAPTER, TITLE, or OFF . On an Audio CD or Video CD (without PBC), select TRA CK, ALL (all T racks on the Disc), or OFF .
28 Pr ogr am Playback Pr ogram Pla yback Y ou ma y determine the order in which Audio CD , MP3, or JPEG Files will pla y . T o set a Pr ogram, follow these steps. 1 While pla yback is stopped, pr ess MODE r epeatedl y until the PROGRAM screen a ppears.
Random Playback 29 2 While the RANDOM screen a ppears, press PLA Y B . The T racks will pla y in random order . After all the T racks pla y once , pla yback will stop.
• JPEG images and MP3 T racks are known as Files. Groups of Files are called F olders. •F olders ha v e the icon, JPEG Files ha ve the icon, and MP3 Files ha ve the icon. •A maximum of 255 Folders can be recognized. A maximum of 999 Files can be recognized.
To enjoy DU AL PLA YBA CK 1 Press MENU during MP3/JPEG pla yback. A File List will appear . 2 Press K K or L L to select a desired JPEG/MP3 File from the List and pr ess PLA Y B or OK. DUAL PLA YB A CK begins. See page 46-47 on how to set the DUAL PLA YB A CK ON or OFF .
32 Audio Language , Stereo Sound 1 Audio Languag e Y ou can select a language for D VDs during pla yback if multiple languages are a vailable. 1 During D VD pla yback, press AUDIO repeatedl y to choose one of the a vailable languages. Audio displa y appears at the top of the TV screen, and the new audio will be hear d.
Markers 33 2-4 Use Mark ers to remember your fa vorite places on a D VD , an Audio CD , or a Video CD (without PBC). 1 Pla y the Disc to within 30 seconds of the point at which you want to set the Mark er . During pla yback, pr ess MARKER. The Markers will appear at the top of the TV screen.
• With some D VDs, you must select a subtitle language in the Disc menu. • If the desired language does not appear after pr essing SUBTITLE sev eral times, the Disc does not ha ve subtitles in that language. • Opening the disc tra y will cancel your subtitle setting.

Black Le vel, Vir tual Surr ound 37 1 2 Black Le vel Adjust Black Lev el to brighten the D VD or Video CD picture. 1 During D VD or Video CD pla yback, press MODE so the Black Le vel icon shows in the top left corner of the TV screen. 2 Within 1 0 seconds, press s , B ,o r OK r epeatedl y to choose ON or OFF.
38 Language 1 2- 4 Y ou can select different languages f or the Audio or Subtitles of D VDs, as well as languages for D VD Disc menus and the Setup menus of the D VD Pla yer . 1 While pla yback is stopped, pr ess SETUP . The QUICK SETUP screen a ppears.

Press K or L to mov e to the other screens. ● If y ou select O THER for AUDIO , SUBTITLE, or DISC MENU, press four Number buttons to enter the code fo r the language you desir e .
40 Display • Selecting a differ ent TV ASPECT setting is only effectiv e if it is a vailable on the DV D . Check the D VD Disc menu or case for details. •Y ou also can adjust TV ASPECT in the QUICK SETUP menu that a ppears when you first pr ess the SETUP button.
Display (cont’ d) 4 1 Instructions continued fr om pre vious pag e ● If you selected STILL MODE, press K or L to select a setting, then press OK. This determines the quality of an image in still mode. A UT O is the default setting. If you select FIELD , still images will be stabilized but coarse due to the small amount of data.
42 Pr ogressiv e Scan Y ou ma y adjust the Progr essive Scan compatibility . 1 F ollow the steps 1-3 in the Displa y SETUP SECTION on pag e 40. 2 ● Press K or L to select PROGRESSIVE, then press OK r epeatedl y to turn PR OGRESSIVE ON or OFF . The default setting is OFF .
Audio 43 Change Audio settings based on other equipment you connected to the D VD Pla yer or according to y our Disc sound featur es. 1 While pla yback is stopped, pr ess SETUP . The QUICK SETUP screen will a ppear . 2 Press s or B to select CUST OM at the top of the menu, then pr ess OK.
44 P ar ental Lev els 1,7 4 2-3, 5- 6 Fo llow these steps to set the rating lev el for your D VDs. D VDs whose ratings exceed the lev el you set will not pla y . 1 Press SETUP while pla yback is stopped. 4 Press the Number buttons to enter y our four - digit passw ord.
Pa r ental P ass word 45 3,5 The Parental f eature pre vents viewing of D VDs that exceed y our rating limits. This feature will not limit vie wing if the D VD is not rated or coded. Check your D VDs and settings befor e letting children access the Pla y er .
46 Other s 1 2- 4 Y ou ma y adjust the Angle Icon a vailability , Automatic P ower Off, and the brightness of the Play er’ s displa y panel. 1 When pla yback is stopped, pr ess SETUP . The QUICK SETUP screen will a ppear . 3 Press s or B to select (O THERS), then press OK.

Glossar y A UDIO OUT Jacks: Red and white jacks on the back of the D VD Pla yer that send audio to another system (TV or stereo). CO AXIAL DIGIT AL A UDIO OUT jack: Sends digital audio to a ster eo, allowing y ou to adjust the volume at the stereo . The stereo must ha ve a Coaxial In jack.
