9 Brewing with Whole Coffee Beans CAUTION: Before you make the first pot of coffee, start the coffee maker using water and paper filter only. This removes any residues in the unit from the ma nufacturing process. Before brewing coffee, make sure the carafe is prop erly positioned on the warming plate.
10 4. Place the permanent filter in the filter compartment and close the filter cover. Push the filter compartment in place. NOT E: A permanent filter may allow some groun d coffee to flow into carafe. 5. Close the water reservoir cover by pressing down until it lock s; the appliance is equipped with a safety interlock system.
