Magellan GPS T racker 5 Using the Keypad LIGHT - T urns back light off and on and offers two levels of brightness adjustable with consecutive presses of the light key . PWR - T urns the receiver on and off. ENTER - Selects menu items, confirms changes and initiates certain functions.

Magellan GPS T racker 7 Using your GPS T racker The constellation of 24 GPS satellites circling the globe is in constant motion. Before your r eceiver can tell you where you are, it needs to kno w where the satellites ar e relative to itself.
8 Magellan GPS T racker Holding the R eceiver GPS T racker is designed to fit comfort- ably in your hand. Hold the r eceiver in the palm of your hand with the antenna pointing towar ds the sky .

U se the UP/DO WN ARRO Ws to highlight the region where y ou are located and press ENTER . As you proceed with the initialization process, you can pr ess Q UIT at any time to return to the previous scr een or field.
10 Magellan GPS T racker Selecting P rimar y U sage A screen will be displayed asking y our primar y use for the receiver , MARINE or LAND. Use the UP/DO WN ARR O Ws to select and press ENTER . The default is MARINE. The following chart shows the differ ences in terminology that your GPS T racker uses while in land or marine mode.
Magellan GPS T racker 11 Getting a F ixed P osition Once you have chosen the primary usage for your GPS T racker , the ST A TUS screen will be displayed.
12 Magellan GPS T racker Cr eating a GO T O Once this fixed position has been saved in y our receiver . T ravel to another location away from the saved position to cr eate a route back to the saved waypoint.
Magellan GPS T racker 13 Basic Operation 3 Power Up Sequence The receiver is po wered up by pr essing PWR (power). O n power up , the GPS T racker will display the Magellan logo/start up animation momentarily and then switch to the ST A TUS screen.

16 Magellan GPS T racker Using the Position Screen The POSITION screen displays the coordinates of your last computed position and basic navigation data.
Magellan GPS T racker 17 The NA V 1 screen displays a numerical reading at 30˚ incr ements with the characters N (0 ° ), S (180 ° ), E (90 ° ) and W (270 ° ). Course is shown numerically and represented by the P osition Icon at the bottom of the screen.
18 Magellan GPS T racker Customizing the NA V 1 Screen Y ou can change the four navigational fields. Y ou can choose from BRG, DST , SOG, COG, VMG, CT S, ET A, ETE, XTE, TRN, AL T , TME, TMP and Blank. T o customize your NA V 1 screen, press MENU while viewing the NA V 1 screen, select CUST OMIZE and press ENTER .
Magellan GPS T racker 19 Using the Compas s Screen The Course Dir ection Icon displays your course o ver ground while the Steering I ndicator displays the bearing of the destination relative to the course over gr ound. When the arrows are pointed in the same dir ection, you are on course.
20 Magellan GPS T racker Align the sun on the COMP ASS screen with the sun in the sky , as shown. When aligned, the S teering Indicator will point you in the dir ection you should be travelling in order to reach y our destination. Customizing the Compas s Screen Y ou can change the four navigational fields.
Magellan GPS T racker 21 Y ou are presented with a pop-up menu from which you can make your selection. U se the UP/DO WN ARRO Ws to highlight your choice and press ENTER . Y ou will return to the COMP ASS screen, still in the customize mode. Y ou can continue to customize the display or press Q UIT to exit.
22 Magellan GPS T racker Using th e Plot Screen The PL O T screen is a mini map that shows where you hav e travelled and where you want to travel. Y ou can view the active route, your current position as well as the other waypoints and destination in the PL OT screen.
Magellan GPS T racker 23 Selecting P AN-N-SCAN By using P AN-N-SCAN, you can look ahead or review where you hav e travelled according to waypoints, routes and track history . PAN-N-SCAN allows you to view the area from .20 miles to 320 miles, depending on y our selection.
24 Magellan GPS T racker Setting T rack History U sing TRACK HIST OR Y records where you hav e been by automatically storing locations, as “ dropping bread crumbs ” from your starting point as you travel.

26 Magellan GPS T racker Setting H ide Data/Sho w Data When using the PL O T screen, you may want bearing and distance to be hidden. Y ou can choose to hide these information fields or have the fields present. U nder HIDE DA T A/SHO W DA T A, you can turn the data fields on or off.
Magellan GPS T racker 27 Setting H ide WPTS/Show WPTS When using the ROAD scr een, you may want the waypoints to be hidden. Y ou can choose to hide the waypoints or have the waypoints present. U nder HIDE WPT S/SHO W WPT S, you can turn the waypoints on or off.
28 Magellan GPS T racker The top of the screen displays the destination name, bearing and course. The Graphical S peedometer is shown with a Circumference B ar that mov es clockwise around the Speedometer to indicate instantaneous speed. The scale for the Speedometer is adjustable by using the RIGHT/LEFT ARR O Ws to increase or decrease the scales.
Magellan GPS T racker 29 Using the Time Screen The TIME screen displays the curr ent time, estimated time enroute (ETE), time of arrival and elapsed time in regar ds to the route you are navigating in. The first data field can be customized to correct the current time and to select the time format.
30 Magellan GPS T racker Saving a W aypoint W aypoints are used to create routes and GO TOs. Before y ou can set a route or GO T O, you must have a saved waypoint in your receiver . Y ou have two options when naming waypoints. Y ou can create waypoints with either a receiver-cr eated name or with a name you create yourself.
Magellan GPS T racker 31 Saving Y our P osition Fix with a U ser-Cr eated Name T o save a waypoint with a user-created name, press MARK , press ENTER and the ARR O Ws to enter alphanumeric characters. Once you have enter ed the name, press MARK again to save the waypoint.
32 Magellan GPS T racker Creating a GOTO A GO T O is a route which guides you from your current position to any waypoint in the receiver ’ s memory . As an example, you can save a waypoint at your home. N o matter where you go, you will always be able to navigate back home by using GO T O.
Magellan GPS T racker 33 W orking with W aypoints 4 This section tells you how to edit, delete, project and sort waypoints. Y ou can store up to 500 positions which can be used to build routes for naviga- tion. Editing a W aypoint U nder editing a waypoint, you have the following options: • Editing a waypoint name.
34 Magellan GPS T racker Cr eating/Editing/Deleting a M essage in a W aypoint T o create a message, follow the instructions on selecting a waypoint. U se the DO WN ARR O W to highlight CREA TE MSG and press ENTER. Use the ARR O Ws to input alphanumeric characters.
Magellan GPS T racker 35 Projecting a W aypoint This function allows you to cr eate a waypoint at a certain distance and direction from an existing waypoint or fr om your current position. F rom any NA V screen, press MENU, highlight W A YPOINTS and press ENTER .
36 Magellan GPS T racker Sorting a Waypoint Y ou may want to change how the waypoints are sorted. Y ou have the options of ALPHABETIC, NEAREST and ICON/NAME. F rom any NA V screen, press MENU , highlight W A YPOINTS and press ENTER . P ress MENU , highlight SOR T WPT and press ENTER .
Magellan GPS T racker 37 5 W orking with Routes A route is a planned course of travel defined by a series of waypoints stored in the receiver ’ s memory . These waypoints are connected to form the segments or “legs ” of the route. There are 4 different types of routes consisting of GO T O, BACKTRACK, MOB and MUL TI-LEG ROUTE.
38 Magellan GPS T racker Creating a Man Over Board Route Another type of route is Man Ov er Board (MOB). The MOB route is useful when you want to instantly create a route. T o activate MOB, press GO TO. A GO TO MENU will appear with MOB (the first on the menu) highlighted.
Magellan GPS T racker 39 Creating a Multi-Leg Route Y ou may want to create a route with your saved waypoints. F or example, if you want to create a route fr om your home, to a campsite and then to a great fishing spot, you can create a route that would take y ou to each place.
40 Magellan GPS T racker Viewing/Editing a Route F rom any screen, press MENU , highlight R OUTES and press ENTER. Highlight the route you wish to edit and press ENTER or press MENU , highlight VIEW/EDIT and press ENTER . Inserting a Leg With the route you hav e created, from your home to a campsite, you can insert a leg in the route.
Magellan GPS T racker 41 Or P ress MENU , highlight REPL A CE and press ENTER . A list of waypoints will appear , highlight the waypoint you want to be replaced and pr ess ENTER . Adding a W aypoint at the End of a Route Y ou may be navigating using the home to campsite route and find a great picnic spot.
42 Magellan GPS T racker Saving a Route Once you have made changes to your route, you may want to sav e those changes. While viewing the route, press MENU, highlight SA VE R OUTE and press ENTER . The changes you have made to your r oute will now be saved until you delete them.
Magellan GPS T racker 43 Reversing a Route Once you have reached the end of y our route, you can reverse the route to return home. F or example, Camp...F ish, goes from point A to B to C to D, reversed would r ead from D to C to B to A and the title would read F ish.
44 Magellan GPS T racker W orking with Map ‘N T rack Route The Map ‘N T rack Route consists of track points downloaded from the Map ‘N T rack PC software (an optional accessory; see accessor y list). With Map ‘N T rack PC software, you can generate a route manually or automati- cally using the P oint-to-P oint navigation function.
Magellan GPS T racker 45 Auxiliar y Functions W orking with Sun/Moon and Fish/Hunt The S un/Moon function displays solar and lunar calculations and the F ish/ H unt function displays times for excellent and good F ishing/Hunting.
46 Magellan GPS T racker Selecting the Simulate Mode The Simulate mode will help you become familiar with your r eceiver and how it works by generating artificial position fix es. By utilizing Simulate, the receiver will cr eate a route and will continue until you end it.
Magellan GPS T racker 47 Selecting Contrast Y ou may want to change the contrast of your receiver . Y ou can adjust the lightness or darkness depending on your prefer ence. F rom any NA V screen, press MENU , high- light CONTRAST and press ENTER . A pop-up window will be displayed.
48 Magellan GPS T racker Selecting Anchor Alarm The Anchor alarm will notify that you have mo ved from the set position. F or example, while boating, you can set your Anchor alarm. Once anchored, your boat begins to drift from the set position, a pop-up window will appear to notify that you are mo ving.
Magellan GPS T racker 49 Selecting XTE Alarm The XTE (Cross T rack Error) alarm will notify you when you have gone off your set course. While viewing the Alarm/M essage screen, highlight the XTE ALARM and press ENTER . A pop-up screen will appear with your choices for alarm settings of OFF , 100, 250, 500 feet, 0.
50 Magellan GPS T racker The PR OXIMITY WPTS menu will be displayed for you to select pro ximity way- points. H ighlight the empty field, as shown, and press ENTER . Y our saved waypoints will appear . Highlight a waypoint and press ENTER . The selected waypoint will appear .
Magellan GPS T racker 51 Selecting Alarm Defaults After a memory clear , you may want to restore the alarm default settings. While viewing the Alarm/MSG menu, highlight DEF AUL TS and press ENTER . A pop-up window will be displayed, select YES or NO and press ENTER .

Magellan GPS T racker 53 7 Customizing (Setup) Selecting Setup Setup allo ws you to initialize the receiv er and set system parameters to your preference. T o vie w the S etup Menu, fr om any screen press the MENU and highlight SETUP and press ENTER .
54 Magellan GPS T racker Disabling NA V Screens Y ou may find that you do not use one, or more, of the nine NA V screens provided in the r eceiver . Y ou have the option to disable NA V screens, ex cept for the Status and P osition screens. T o disable a NA V screen, press MENU , highlight SETUP and press ENTER .
Magellan GPS T racker 55 Y ou would generally want the receiver to use position coordinates in the same map datum that is used by your maps. F or example, the Irish G rid uses the Irish datum, F innish Grid uses KKJ datum, S wedish Grid uses the R T 90 datum and Swiss G rid uses the Swiss datum.
56 Magellan GPS T racker T o change the Elevation Mode, press MENU , highlight SETUP and press ENTER . H igh- light ELEV MODE and press ENTER . A pop-up menu will appear . Highlight 2D or 3D and press ENTER . If you select 3D, the r eceiver will return to SETUP.
Magellan GPS T racker 57 Selecting NA V Units Y ou can choose the units of measure used by your receiver . NA V UNITS gives you the options of MILES/MP H, NM/KNOTS and KM/ KPH. P ress MENU , from any screen, highlight SETUP and press ENTER . H ighlight NA V UNITS and press ENTER .
58 Magellan GPS T racker Selecting Light Timer With the Light T imer function, you can choose the setting for the light timer . Y ou can choose from AL W A YS ON, 15 and 30 seconds, 1,2 and 4 minutes. The light timer is a power saving function that automatically turns the light off.
Magellan GPS T racker 59 Selecting Personalize With the personalize function, you hav e the option of inputting your name into the GPS T racker receiver . P ress MENU , from any screen, highlight SETUP and press ENTER . Highlight P ERSONALIZE and press ENTER .

Magellan GPS T racker 61 T r oubleshooting Receiver will not tur n on: 1. Check to see if batteries are installed correctly . 2. Replace with four new AA alkaline batteries. T akes more than 10 minutes to get a position fix: 1. If there are any obstacles nearby or o verhead, move to a new location.
62 Magellan GPS T racker Commonly Asked Questions Does the r eceiver adjust itself for daylight savings time? N o. Y ou need to reset the time for changes in your ar ea. (see Changing T ime Display ). Will my r eceiver function corr ectly in the year 2000? Absolutely .
Magellan GPS T racker 63 Y ou say my receiver should work for 30 hours on four batter ies, mine doesn ’ t last that long? There can be two reasons. The first, and most common, r eason is that you have the display backlight on. The light increases the drain on the batteries causing the decrease in battery life.
