1 Magellan Maestro 4700 Series Receiver The Magellan ® Maestro ® receiver is a ve hicle navig ation prod uct th at utilizes GPS signals from satellites to calculate your precise location and compute navigati onal information that can be used to guide you to your destination.

3 Installation Instructions Installat ion of th e Magel lan Maestro receive r is simple an d easy . The hardest part will be picking th e best location .
4 Attaching the Magella n Maestro receiver to the Car Cradle Slide the Magellan Maestro r eceiver on the car cradle so that the slot on the Magellan Maestro receiver aligns with the tab on the car cradle. Slide the Magellan Maestro receiver all the way down until it rests on the 'feet'.
5 Security It is recommended that the Magel lan Maestro receiver is not left in plain view while unattended for reasons of theft. Please note that the Magellan Maestro r eceiver is a receiver on ly and does not transmit GPS location signals. Neither the receiver nor the vehicle can be track ed using the Mage llan Maestro receiver .
6 Fundamentals Powering on the Magellan Maestro receiver The Power On/Off switch is located on the top of the Magellan Maestro re ceiver . T urning the Magellan Maestro receiver On 1. Slide the power switch to the left. 2. After the in itial splash scr een the Warnings screen is displayed.
7 Setting Button Sounds on or off 1. Access the Main Menu . 2. T ap the Settings icon . 3. T ap Sound . 4. T ap the check box for Button Sounds . Check to have button sounds pl ayed, unchecked to turn them off. 5. T ap to save and exit. Brightness Accessing the Brig htness Control 1.
8 Buttons on the Main Menu Screen Keypad Understanding the keypad whi le entering an address is an i mportant part of using your Magellan Maestro receiver . The keypad is the most common method for ente ring data into the Magel lan Maestro recei ver .
9 Selecting From List When a list of items found in the database are displayed, us e the arrows on the ri ght to move the list up and down and tap on the desired item in the list to continue. 10 QuickSpell Another feature the Magellan Maestro receiver has to make entering cities and streets ea sier is a feature known as QuickSpell. In the example to th e right, “CE” ha s been entered for a street name in Chicago, IL. The Magellan Maestro receive r has predicte d that the st reet name m ay be Cedar Ave.
11 Map Screen The most commonly used screen is the Map screen. Whether you are follow ing a route or just tr aveling around a city , the chances are that the Map screen will be displ ayed. The Map screen can be displayed in two unique modes: normal and r outing.

13 Current Location Screen This screen can be accessed from the Options screen or from the Map screen. The Current Location sc reen displays approxim ate address of your current position, the next and previou s intersections, yo ur latitude, longitud e, and h eading.

16 Entering an Intersection When the str eet number is not known , an intersecting street can pinpoint the loca tion. 1. From the Main Menu, tap the Go T o icon. 2. T ap th e Intersectio n icon. 3. Enter C ity: Y ou have three ways to do this: • T o select the city from the list of previous city , tap the button.
17 • T o enter a ZIP code: if ne eded, tap the Zip Code button. Enter the ZIP code. T ap to brin g up a list of cities with the zip code entered. T ap on the ci ty name to sel ect it fro m the list.

20 OneT ouch Menu In addition to Home Address, there are other icons in the OneT ouch Menu, the set of bookmarks of searches and favorite destinat ions. They can be used for easy access of frequent destinatio ns and to get local informat ion when needed.
21 Points of Interest (POI) The Magellan Maestro receiver has prel oa ded POIs that can be used as a destination fo r a route. Selecting a restaurant or finding a gas statio n ne arby is at your fingertip s. Creating a Route to a POI by Category POIs are categorized into unique categories from gas stations to tourist attractions .
22 2. T ap the Points of Interest i con. 3. T ap Search By Name . 4. Spell the name of the POI to be used as the destination. Y ou need not enter the full name, but the more characters you enter , the easier it will be to fi nd the exact POI you are searching for .
23 Home Address Y o ur most freque nt destination can be entered and save d in the Magellan Maestro as the Home Address for quick and easy access when you need to navigate there. This does not n eed to be your real home address. Ch oose any address you visit frequently .
24 T raveling on a Route Map Screen When a route has been calculated, it will be displ ayed on the Map screen in green with small arrows indicating the direction of travel. The top of the screen displays the name of the street that comes next in your T urn List together with its distance.

26 Multi Destination Routes With the Magellan Maestro yo u can create routes with more than one dest ination. Select one destination and create a single route first.

28 V oice Recognit ion The Magellan Maestro includes voice reco gnition software providing a means by which you can control many of the functions hands-free. IMPOR T ANT Screens that can accep t voice commands w ill have a listening icon displayed at the bott om of the screen when voice commands can be given.

33 4. Enter the phone number or tap the Address Book button to select a phone nu mber from your Address Bo ok. 5. When the phone number is displayed at the top of the screen, tap the green checkmark. Speed Dialing a Phone Number 1. Access the Phone menu by tapping th e Bluetooth icon on the Main Menu.
34 Settings With user Settings you can customize the Magellan Maestro receiver to better suit your personal needs and preferences. T apping the Back arrow T a p from an y of the Setting screens will not cancel the c hanges. Changes take effect as soon as you make them.

36 Showing 3D Landmarks The Magellan Maestro includes 3D repres entation of select landmarks. Y ou may ch oose to show or hide them. 1. From the Main Menu screen, tap the Settings icon. 2. T ap Map Options. 3. Checking Show 3D Landmarks enables this function.

39 Backing Up and Restoring Data Backup and restore provides a wa y of storing the address bo ok and other data on an optional micro SD card inserted in your Magellan Maestro receiver . When the data has been backed up, it can be restored at any time.
40 T raffic Live traffic information is an option a vailable for your Magellan Maestro using the T r affic Link ac cessory . The T raffic Link accessory connects to your Magel lan receiver th rough the T raffic Link power cable that is supplied in the kit.
41 T raffic Incidents When routing, if a traf fic incident(s), slow traffic or stopped traffic will delay your arrival, the traffic icon on the Map screen will display the computed delay du e to traffic in the red box below the traffic icon.
