Fund amental s 9 The Keypad Understandi ng the keypad whi le entering a n address is an important part of using y our Magellan Maestro. The keypad is th e most common method for e ntering dat a into the Mage llan Maestro.
Fund amental s 10 Quickspell QuickSpell uses infor mation in th e database to limit the keys that ca n be pressed to pr esent only those which correspond wi th informat ion in the d atabase. For example , if you are looking for LONDON. As you ‘type’ in the name London, only keys t hat can spell a town in th e data ba se ar e sh own .
Map Scr een 11 Map Scr een The most commonly used screen wi ll be the Map screen. Whet her you are fol lowing a rou te or just travel ling around town, the ch ances are that the Map screen wi ll be displ ayed. There are two unique modes that t he Map screen can be displayed in; normal and rout ing.

Map Scr een 13 Accessing the Map Screen 1. On the Main Menu, tap Show Map . 2D Mode The map is normall y displayed in 3D mode but you can set the map t o 2D mode if so d esired. Choos e the mode that is most suita ble for you. In 2D mode, you c an pan across the map loo king for a locatio n to route t o or save i n your addres s book.

Home Address 18 Changing the Home Address 1. T ap the Ho me Address icon on the Mai n Menu screen. 2. T ap Change . 3. Confirm “Do you want to r eplace the HOME addres s with a new address ?” T ap Ye s . 4. Follow the prompts to ente r the addres s to be used as your new HOME address.
Enter Address 19 Enter Addr ess The Enter Addr ess functi on is used to cr eate a route to a newly entered add ress or to an address stored in your address boo k. Entering an Address Y our Maestro i s loaded with a r egional map tha t may include s everal di fferent c ountries.

Enter Address 21 or ‘Général ’ to displ ay a list of streets containi ng ‘Général’ . These are the two signif icant words in the street name. Entering ‘Boul evard’ or ‘Du’ would not hav e returned t he appropri ate resu lt. 4. Use the scroll bar to the rig ht, if neces sary , to vi ew the desire d street na me.

Points of Interest 28 Creating a Route to a POI by Name 1. From the Main Menu , ta p the P oint s of In teres t icon. 2. Select Search by Name . 3. Spell the name of the POI to be used as the destinat ion. Y ou need not enter the full name, but the more cha racters you enter , the easier i t will be to f ind the exac t POI you are searching for .

POI Near Ex it 41 POI Near Exit The POI Near Exit function pr ovides a way of ac cessing commonly us ed POIs that ar e near an exit you are approa ching while t ravelli ng on a motorway . POI Near Exit include res taurants, petr ol stati ons, auto repai r shops and ho tels.
