• Exercise extreme caution w hen changing direction on slopes; • Do not mow excessively steep slopes; • Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling t he lawnmower towards you; • Stop the cut.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS • The mower / motor shoul d not be reclined more than 45 ° when adjusting the bl ade setting, servicing the machine or loading it onto trailers or other transport. This is to pre vent sump oil entering the combustion chambers.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Before you start the mow er: 1. Check the engine oil. Ensure that the mower is st ationary and on level ground. R emove the grey filler cap at the front of the engine and check the oil level using the dipstick . Low levels will result in serious engine damage and overfilling can result in loss of power or sm oking.
• Turn the fuel tap, situated on the side of the carburettor, to the ON positio n. • Move the grey choke lever, situated on the side of the carburetto r, to the choke position. • • • • Check that the cylinder and drive clutch levers are in the disengaged positi on.
FRONT ROLLER CAM HEIGHT ADJUSTE RS The two cams fitted to the front roller of M.E.Y mowers enable the operator t o quickly change the cutting height to suit varied conditions and requir ements. See Fig 4 Loosen one front roll er end bolt at a time, with the special spanner provided.
CUTTING CYLINDER Frequent fine a djustment of the cylinder to the bott om blade will give the best cutting performance and extend th e period between sharpening. The design of the cylinder enables the trailling edge to be sharpened while the machine i s in operation.
TO REMOVE THE FRONT ROLLER Turn off the petrol and tur n the engine to Top Dead Centre Lay back mower on 20 litre drum or catcher. Remove the bolts at each end of the front roller shaft. Repair as found necessary and refit. Note, the two bearings are secured with circlips behind the end seals.
