A Closer Look... The following is an illustration of y our Sonica, with a description of its connectors and components. Please see the section, “Hooking Up Y our Sonica, ” f or more information. 1. USB Connector : Connect the “device end” of the USB cable that came with your Sonica to this USB connector .
Software Installation Y our Sonica comes with software that allows it to communicate with y our particular operating system and platform (PC or Mac). Please locate the operating system for y our computer in this section and follow those instructions.
6. The Hardwar e Installation window appears with a warning that the driver has not passed Windows Logo testing. Press the button "Continue An ywa y ." 7. After the installation, the M-Audio Sonica Control Panel icon appears in the System T ra y of your Windows T askbar .
W indows Me 1. Place the Sonica Software CD in y our CD-R OM Drive. 2. Plug the Sonica into your computer’ s USB port. 3. The New Har dware Wizard will appear , and state that "This wizard helps you install softwar e for : Unknown." Select "Install the softwar e automatically (Recommended).
Mac OS 9.2.2 1. Insert Sonica Software CD into your CD-R OM drive. AutoRun will open the CD and allow y ou to view its contents. 2. Double click the “M-Audio Sonica Installer . ” 3. Click "Continue" at the M-P ow ered Scr een. 4. Read the "Instructions for using M-Audio Sonica.
Mac OS X (10.1.3 or later) 1. Insert the Sonica Software CD into your CD-R OM Drive and open the CD to view its contents. 2. Double click "M-Audio Sonica Installer .dmg" file . An Icon will appear on y our desktop mark ed "Sonica." 3.
Hooking Up Y our Sonica Y our Sonica has an 1/8” mini jack. This is an “analog” audio output that you can connect to your po wer ed speak ers. Y ou ma y also connect this output to the stereo analog inputs of a home ster eo or surr ound receiv er .
Using Analog Connection: Using Optical Digital Connection: NO TE: For those who ha ve a coaxial digital connector ra ther than optical connector on y our surround r eceiver or other digital de vice, y ou may use the CO2 Coaxial/Optical Con v er ter from M-Audio to connect y our Sonica.
Using the Sonica with a Software DVD Player The Sonica will work with an y software D VD pla yer . What type of audio signal your D VD pla y er sends to the Sonica depends on the setting in y our D VD pla yer software. Generally , your D VD play er software will pr ovide a series of audio setup options or pref erences.
