P age Important! Before you begin working on your Harmony 900, you must discharge any static electricity you may be carrying around. Ideally , you should wear an anti-static wrist strap as you work.
P age Remov e the battery compartment cover . T here are four screws in this area that need to be remov ed. T wo are immediately visible on either side of the serial number sticker . Remov e them with a small Phillips head screwdriv er and set them aside.
P age Removing the plate will expose three screws; one at the top left and two at the bottom on either side. T hese screws are the same size as the ones y ou alread y removed. So, use y our Phillips head screw- driv er and place these screws with the others.
P age T urn the remote so that the logic board is face up. T here are three screws that need to be remo ved so that the front cov er can be separated from the logic board. T wo of the screws are near the bottom of the remote on either side and the third screw is almost dead-center just abov e the large silver -col- ored component cov er .
P age T ake the button pads from the old face plate and mov e them onto the new one. Just drop the tw o pads right in and pat them down, making sure that they are fully inserted. Also make sure that the on/off button is oriented the correct wa y .
P age With the logic board face up, take the bac k cov er plate (silver and blac k – not the ‘rubberized’ piece) and align it with the board. Y ou can verify align- ment by seeing that the screw hole at the top left of the back co ver is directly o ver the mounting post at the top of the logic board.
P age Replace the three screws that rmly attach the back co ver to the logic board. T hen, y ou are read y to reinstall the ‘rubberized’ back piece. T his piece just snaps back in. Align the piece with the back of the remote and press rmly at the top.
