8 Connecting C onnecting to a T V (US version) If your T V is fitted with an S-video input socket, connect as shown. If your T V does not hav e an S-video input socket, connect the Classik Movie System to the T V as shown. NO TES: Ensure your T V is set to accept either a Composit e or S-video input.
9 Connecting C onnecting to speakers If you are not using an external power amplifier and are ther efore c onnecting speakers directly to the Classik Movie Syst em, follow the diagram below . C onnecting to an analogue tape recorder F ollow the diagram below .

11 F ront P anel and Handset Handset LEDs Indicate when a signal is being transmitted from the handset. DISP (display) Changes the time displa y on the front panel when playing discs. GO T O F or jumping to a particular title, chapter , track or time on a disc.
12 Setup Menus Setup Menus About the setup menus The on-screen setup menus enable you t o configure your Classik Mo vie System t o suit the number and size of your speakers , the pic ture f ormat of your T V and much more . It is essential that you use the setup menus to inf orm the Classik Movie Syst em about components that it is connected to .
13 Setup Menus 2. Press ‘e n t e r ’ on the front panel or handset. The PREFERENCES P A GE menu is displayed . 3. Use the key to mov e to the DISC MENU option. The language options are display ed . 4. Use the key to move to the first language option.
14 Setup Menus PICTURE MODE If when viewing a DVD the screen image flickers, choose a different option; either A UTO (suitable f or most DVDs), HI-RES (high resolution) or N-FLICKER (non-flicker). ANGLE MARK If set to ON, the symbol appears on the screen to inform you when a multi-angle portion of a DVD is being played .
15 Setup Menus SPEAKER SETUP FRONT Choose the option that best suits the speakers in your system: Large front speakers (full-range frequency response) - set to LARGE Small front speakers (limited bass response) - set to SMALL NO TE: The setting you choose f or your front speakers determines the options av ailable for other speakers.

19 Playing Discs Pla ying Discs This chapter describes how t o play DVDs and CDs on the Classik Movie S ystem and explains various f eatures and user functions. F irst of all* 1. T urn on y our T V and tune it to the Classik Movie Sy stem ’ s video output signal.
20 Playing Discs Time information for DVDs is also displa yed on y our T V screen. If you wish to remo ve the time display from y our T V screen, repeatedly press DISP on the handset until it is not shown. NO TE: When watching a DVD , if you enter a command using the fr ont panel or handset you may see a symbol appear on the screen.
21 Playing Discs T o pause a disc: ● Press / . Press / again to resume playback. T o stop playback and remov e a disc: If the disc is a CD - press twice. If this disc is a DVD - press three times. Remove the disc then pr ess or nudge the disc drawer to close.

25 Playing Discs Direct time selec tion T o directly access a specific point on a D VD while a title is playing: using the handset - 1. P ress GO T O . On your T V the digits showing the current chapt er are highlighted . 2. P ress GO T O again. 3. Ent er the desired time using the digit keys.
26 Playing Discs Repeat section T o repeat a specific section of a disc: using the handset - While the disc is playing , select the star t of the section to repeat - ● Press SHIFT , then press A-B (‘3’ k ey) within two seconds . Continue playback until y ou reach the end of the section to repeat.
27 Playing Discs Ex clude program This program mode allo ws you to ex clude tracks from those av ailable on a disc. Those remaining can then be play ed back. Disc must be stopped before this function can be accessed . T o select which tracks are to be ex cluded from pla yback: using the handset - 1.
28 Playing Discs F urther playback options for D VDs Language selection T o cycle through the a vailable language options on a D VD: using the handset - ● Repeatedly press or hold AU D IO . Angle selection Certain DVDs allow you to view the same scene from mor e than one viewpoint.
29 Playing Discs Midnight Movie mode Midnight Movie mode functions in the same way as the D ynamic option in the setup menus; it allows you to add compression to the audio signal in or der to dampen sudden increases in volume .
T uner 30 T uner This chapter describes how t o operate the Classik Movie S ystem ’ s tuner and explains various f eatures and user functions. F irst of all 1. Press on the Classik Movie Syst em ’ s front panel. Enter TUNER mode: 2. Press TUNER on the handset.
T uner 31 using the front panel or handset - ● Repeatedly press ‘e n t e r ’ until the front panel display shows TUNE. ● T o increase the frequency , repeatedly press or hold .
T uner 32 Signal mute lev el The mute level function allows y ou to mute the output from the tuner if the strength of a signal is below a set level. EXAMPLE: If you set the mute level at 25, then the tuner will mute any received fr equency that is below 25.
T uner 33 Preset functions This section explains how to store and access fr equencies as presets (maximum of 200). Preset stor age T o store a frequency as a preset: using the handset - 1. Set the tuner to the fr equency you wish to store. 2. P ress ST ORE .
Preset selection T o select a preset: using the handset - ● Press PRESET . The front panel display sho ws PRESET . ● T o select a preset, repeatedly press or hold / . (Pressing c ycles through the presets numerically then alphabetically . Pr essing rev erses the order of the cycle.
35 P reamplifier Pr eamplifier This chapter describes how t o operate the Classik Movie S ystem ’ s preamplifier and explains various f eatures and user functions. F irst of all T o access the preamplifier functions, the Classik Movie System must be in one of the source modes.
36 P reamplifier Subw oofer trim adjustment If you use a subwoofer speaker as part of your A V system, you may find that when watching a DVD you want to adjust the v olume level of the subwoof er without affecting any of the other speakers. This is done by adjusting the subwoof er trim.
37 P reamplifier T o exit fader balanc e adjustment: ● Press SOURCE + / SOURCE - on the front panel, or the key for the current source on the handset. or ● W ait a few seconds f or the display to change t o the current source displa y . NO TE: Shifting the fader balance will affect a centre speaker but will not affect a subwoofer .
38 P reamplifier T reble adjustment The treble range is -7 to +7, with neutral treble being 0. T o adjust the lev el of treble: ● Repeatedly press ‘ adjust’ on the front panel or ADJUST on the handset until the front panel shows the treble displa y .
39 Record F unction Recor d F unc tion The record function allows y ou to direct a source signal to a rec ording device such as an audio cassette unit, VCR or DA T recorder . NO TE: F or reasons of copyright protection, some DVDs incorporate a prot ection system that prevents the rec ording of DVDs on to a VCR.

41 C ONNECT F eature Main Mode and Local Mode When a Classik Movie Syst em is linked into a CONNECT syst em as a receiver , it has two main modes of operation: Main Mode - In this mode the receiver has control o ver the audio sourc es on the driver unit.
42 V olume control in P arty Mode The driver unit can contr ol the volume of itself and of an y receivers that ar e in Main Mode. This allows the receiv ers to hav e different v olume settings to that of the driver and to each other .
