7 C onnecting the CL ASSIK Movie S y stem Di C onnecting the CL ASSIK Movie Di to other c omponents F or the best per formance , the video outputs from auxiliar y sources should be connected directly to your TV and the audio outputs to your CLASSIK Movie Di – see diagram below .
8 When any connections are made to speakers or a T V , the CLASSIK Movie System Di must be configured befor e they will operate correctly . T his is fully explained in the Setup Menus chapter . C onnecting the aerials Connect the supplied AM and FM aerials as shown.
9 C onnecting to a T V (European version) If your T V is fitted with an S-video input socket, connect as shown. If your T V does not hav e an S-video input socket, connect the CLASSIK Movie System Di to the T V’ s SCART sock et.
Connecting to an auxiliary analogue source Connect the CLASSIK Movie Di’ s A UX IN 1 or 2 sockets to the output from an external audio source , such as the analogue output of a Mini Disc player or external tuner .
F r ont P anel and Handset F ront panel Disc draw er Fr ont panel displa y (mute) Mutes/unmutes the sound to the speakers and headphones. SURROUND Selects a surround sound format. FORMA T Selects the type of output video signal. / (play/pause) Plays or pauses a disc.
Handset LEDs Indicate when a signal is being transmitted from the handset. DISP (display) Changes the time displa y on the front panel when playing discs. GO T O F or jumping to a particular title, chapter , track or time on a disc. SURR (surround) Selects sound formats.
13 English Video Output / S etup Menus Video Output The output video signal that is correct for y our T V can be selected using the FORMA T key on the front panel. T o do this: ● Repeatedly press or hold SOURCE +/SOURCE – on the front panel until the display shows LISTEN DISC / REC ORD OFF .
14 English Setup Menus 2. Press ‘e n t e r ’ on the front panel or handset. The PREFERENCES P A GE menu is displayed . 3. Use the key to move t o the DISC MENU option. The language options are displayed . 4. Use the key to move to the first language option.
15 English Setup Menus 2. Press ‘e n t e r ’ to r eturn to the SETUP MENU - MAIN P A GE. 3. Use the key to highlight the EXIT SETUP option. Press ‘e n t e r ’ . Some changes made in the setup menus will be implemented immediately , others will be implemented after exiting setup.
16 English Setup Menus CAPTIONS Set to ON to view Closed Captions (for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) that might be av ailable on a DVD . SCREEN SA VER If a still image is displayed on your T V screen for too long , damage to your screen can result. Setting to ON activates a screen sav er (a blank screen) after three minutes.

18 English Setup Menus accept an S-video , RGB or YP rPb/YUV signal, set to COMPOSITE. NO TE: The RGB option is not av ailable on the US version of the unit.
19 English Setup Menus SUBWOOFER If you hav e connected a subwoofer - set to ON If yo u ha ve not c onnected a subwoofer - set to OFF The next menus allow speaker positions to be described to the CLASSIK Movie Sy stem Di so that the unit can add time delays to certain speakers.
Setup Menus DOLBY PRO L OGIC For D VDs OFF - Stereo tracks on a DVD will play as stereo . ON - Stereo tracks on a DVD can be played as st ereo or decoded to up to 5 channels (depending on the audio mode selected – see Surround sound modes in Playing Discs chapter).
Setup Menus English 21 Panor ama If set to ON, the P ANORAMA control extends the audio signal from the front left and right speakers, to include the surround left and right speakers.
Setup Menus P ARENT AL This menu allows you t o program the CLASSIK Movie Di with an age restriction level for certain DVDs.* T o set or change parental c ontrol: 1. Highlight the desired age restriction level and press ‘e n t e r ’ . The password verify page appears.
23 English Playing Discs Pla ying Discs This chapter describes how t o play DVDs and CDs on the CLASSIK Movie Di and explains various f eatures and user functions. F irst of all* 1. T urn on y our T V and tune it to the CLASSIK Movie Di’ s video output signal.
24 English Playing Discs Time information for DVDs is also displa yed on y our T V screen. If you wish to remov e the time display from y our T V screen, repeatedly press DISP on the handset until it is not shown.
25 English Playing Discs T o pause a disc: ● Press / . ● Press / again to resume playback. T o stop playback: ● Press . T o stop playback and r emov e a disc: ● Press and hold until the disc drawer opens . ● Remove the disc then pr ess or nudge the disc drawer to close.

29 English Playing Discs Direct time selec tion T o directly access a specific point on a D VD while a title is playing: using the handset - ● Press GO T O . On your TV the digits showing the current chapter are highlighted . ● Press GO T O again.
30 English Playing Discs Repeat section T o repeat a specific section of a disc: using the handset - While the disc is playing , select the star t of the section to repeat - ● Press SHIFT , then press A-B (‘3’ key) within two seconds. Continue playback until y ou reach the end of the section to repeat.
31 English Playing Discs Ex clude program This program mode allows y ou to ex clude tracks from those av ailable on a disc. Those remaining can then be play ed back. Disc must be stopped before this function can be accessed . T o select which tracks are to be ex cluded from pla yback: using the handset - 1.

Setup The first time the tuner is selected the display shown below appears on the fr ont panel. The CLASSIK Movie Di must be set f or the correct radio frequency range for your country .
T uner 35 English using the front panel or handset - ● Repeatedly press ‘e n t e r ’ until the front panel display sho ws TUNE. ● T o increase the frequency , repeatedly press or hold . ● T o decrease the frequency , repeatedly press or hold .
T uner 36 English Signal mute lev el The mute level function allows y ou to mute the output from the tuner if the strength of a signal is below a set level. EXAMPLE: If you set the mute level at 25, then the tuner will mute an y received fr equency that is below 25.
T uner 37 English Preset functions This section explains how to store and access fr equencies as presets (maximum of 200). Preset stor age T o store a frequency as a preset: using the handset - 1. Set the tuner to the frequency you wish to store. 2. Press STORE .
Preset selection T o select a preset: using the handset - ● Press PRESET . The front panel display sho ws PRESET . ● T o select a preset, repeatedly press or hold / . (Pressing cycles through the presets numerically then alphabetically . Pr essing reverses the order of the cy cl e .

41 English Pr eamplifier Balance adjustment F ader balanc e This function allows you to shift the balance between the fr ont and rear speakers. The fader balance range is from 10 incr ements to the front, to 10 increments to the r ear , with neutral balance being 0.
42 English Pr eamplifier Bass and treble adjustment Bass adjustment The bass range is -7 to +7, with neutral bass being 0. T o adjust the lev el of bass: ● Repeatedly press ‘ adjust ’ on the front panel or ADJUST on the handset until the front panel shows the bass display .
Record F unc tion Recor d F unc tion The record function allows y ou to direct a source signal to a recor ding device such as an audio cassette unit, VCR or DA T recorder . NO TE: F or reasons of copyright protection, some DVDs incorporate a prot ection system that prevents the rec ording of DVDs on to a VCR.
