Reset Button If the Instant GigaDriv e’ s IP Address or passw ord is lost, press and hold this button do wn for three seconds, then release this button. The Instant GigaDriv e™ will beep once to indicate that the default IP Address (192.168.1.77, with a Netw ork Mask of 255.
EtherFast ® Network Attached Storage The Instant GigaDri ve™ has an internal beeper that beeps to indicate cer tain ev ents. 1 Beep This signals that the Reset button or Powe r switch has been pressed.
EtherFast ® Network Attached Storage 5. Locate the Instant GigaDriv e’ s po w er switch on the rear panel. Press it once to po wer on the Instant GigaDri ve™. Then, po w er on the netw ork printer , if you attached one to the Instant Gigadri ve™.
EtherFast ® Network Attached Storage This W elcome screen pro vides you with four options in the buttons along the right side of the screen. The f irst button is the Setup button. Click this button to continue with the setup procedure. The second button is the User Guide button.
The Fixed IP Addr ess is set by default (192.168.1.77). Use this setting if there is no DHCP server on your netw ork and you w ant the Instant GigaDriv e™ to use a static IP Address. W ith the Fix ed IP Address setting, you can also use the Instant GigaDri ve™ as your netw ork’ s DHCP ser v er .
7. From the ne xt screen, Figure 4-8, you can change the time and date on the Instant GigaDriv e™. IP Addr ess. Set the Instant GigaDri ve’ s IP Address here, making sure that it is on the same LAN segment as the PC running the Setup W izard. Subnet Mask.
10. Y ou ha ve no w successfully set up the Instant GigaDri ve™ with the Setup W izard. When the screen sho wn in Figure 4-11 appears, click the Exit but- ton to exit the Setup W izard. Local Time. Set your cur rent time here. Time Zone. Select your local time zone from the drop-do wn menu here.
Chapter 5: Using the Instant GigaDrive’ s W eb-Based Utility F or your con venience, an administrati ve utility has been pro g rammed into the Instant GigaDri ve™. This chapter will explain all of the functions in this utili- ty . All administrativ e tasks are performed through this web utility .
If you ha ve not already assigned an administrati ve user name and passw ord for the Adminstrator , you can enter the default user name of Administrator . There is no passw ord b y default. Then, you can set the Administrator’ s user name and passw ord from the Administrator tab, under Users.
From the LAN screen, y ou will be able to conf igure some of the settings y ou sa ved from the Setup W izard. While these changes are being made, you can click the Sa ve button to sa ve these changes, Cancel to clear all changes, or Help to get further infor mation about anything on this screen.
OPTIONS Con vert F ailed Logins W ith this enabled , the GigaDri ve will automaticall y take an y f ailed lo gins (user name and passw ord) as guest logins, pro viding access only to pub lic areas on the driv es. Enab le FTP Serv er W ith this enabled , third party FTP software can be utilized to access the GigaDri ve.
Pr operties Enter the user’ s name in the Name f ield. Punctuation and other special characters (e.g. * / | ) cannot be used in the name. In the optional Comment f ield , you can enter a comment if you wish. In the P asswor d and V erify P asswor d f ields, enter the user's passw ord.
The Status Information screen, sho wn in F igure 5-11, allo ws you to check the details and status of the Instant GigaDriv e™. System GigaDriv e Name - The cur rent name. This name will be sho wn in "Netw ork Neighborhood" or "My Network Places".
E-Mail Alerts Check the Send button to enab le the sending of E-Mail alerts by the Instant GigaDri ve™. Alerts will be sent when there is some problem requiring the Administrator's attention. In the E- Mail Addr ess f ield , enter the E-Mail Addresses.
The Shar es Information screen, sho wn in Figure 5-14, allo ws you to create and manage shares. Existing Shar es Click the Access button to vie w and conf igure the users who are allo wed to access the selected share. Click the Br o wse button to view the contents of the selected share.
The Disk Settings screen, sho wn in Figure 5-16, allo ws you to perform disk maintenance. As sho wn in Figure 5-15, the Backup Settings screen allows y ou to back up the Instant Gigadri ve’ s conf iguration f ile to your PC. Y ou can also back up data from one disk to another .
As sho wn in Figure 5-17, the Upgr ade screen allo ws you to upgrade the Firmw are to the Instant GigaDriv e™. Curr ent Firmw ar e This shows y ou the cur rent version of the f irmware that is on the Instant GigaDri ve™. Click the Check f or Update button to bro wse for the latest version of f irmware.
3. When I click the Instant GigaDrive’s icon in Network Neighborhood, I’m prompted for a password. This can happen in the follo wing situations: • Y our W indows Lo gon name is recognized b y the Instant GigaDrive™, but your Lo gon passw ord is not.
