Installing the EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Card Overview Each EtherF ast ® 10/100 LAN Card is equipped with an RJ-45 por t that auto- matically adjusts to either 10Mbps or 100Mbps speeds, allo wing your .
EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards 6. Connect one end of a twisted-pair cable to your PC at the EtherF ast ® 10/100 LAN Card's RJ-45 por t. 7. Plug the other end of the cable into one of y our netw ork’ s 10BaseT or a 100BaseTX hub or switch ports, DSL modem, cable modem, router , etc.

Windo ws 95 will begin cop ying f iles to your PC. When asked if you w ant to restart your PC, remo v e the flopp y disk and click Y es.

Choose a name that is unique from the other computer names on the netw ork. 12. T ype the name of y our w orkgroup in the W or kgr oup box.

Windows Millennium Installation and Setup After ph ysicall y installing the EtherF ast ® 10/100 LAN Card in your computer , follo w these instructions to install the netw ork de vice driv er .
8. If W indo ws asks you to supply an y drivers be ginning with “lne” or “netlne”, re-direct W indo ws to your flopp y driv e ( A:WINME ). 9. W indo ws will f inish installing the softw are onto your PC.

9. Enter a description of your computer in the Computer Description box. This box is optional, and can be left b lank. 10. Choose the Access Contr ol tab.
34 EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards 33 Windows NT 4.0 Installation and Setup The follo wing instructions will set up the EtherF ast ® 10/100 LAN Card in a computer running NT 4.0 ser v- er/w orkstation. Y ou should ha v e your original W indo ws NT CD-ROM a vailable during the installa- tion, as you might be ask ed to suppl y it.
4. At the Select Networ k Adapter screen, click the Ha ve Disk button and insert the EtherF ast ® 10/100 LAN Card Driver Disk into drive A. 5. At the Insert Disk screen, type A: into the f ield on your screen and click the OK button. 36 Linksys Instant EtherFast ® Series 1.

Uncheck any others that ma y be checked and then click the Ne xt button to continue. 9. Click the Ne xt button to proceed through the subsequent screens.

3. The Install Har dw ar e Device Driver s dialo g bo x will appear . When Ethernet Contr oller is display ed , select Search f or a suitable driv er f or m y device (Recommended) and click the Next button. 4. The Locate Driver F iles dialo g box will appear .
7. The Completing the F ound New Har dwar e W izar d dialog box will appear . Click the Finish button to complete the installation. 8. Remo v e the flopp y disk from the flopp y dri ve. EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards Here are some general guidelines to follo w w hen installing a PCI card (such as the EtherF ast card) into your computer: 1. The EtherF ast LAN adapter should be used in a 32-bit PCI slot that supports PCI Bus Mastering. It cannot be plugged into a PCI Bus Sla ve slot.
