K Power Mac G4 Cube 073-0541 Re v . C ATA Hard Drive Replacement Instructions Be sure to f ollow these instructions carefully . Replacing the A T A hard drive in y our computer requires fiv e basic steps: • Turn off the computer.
2 - Power Mac G4 Cube ATA Hard Drive Removing the Computer Cor e Fr om the Enclosur e 1 Place your computer on a clean, flat surf ace. 2 Shut down y our computer b y opening the Special menu and choosing Shut Down. Then wait five min utes f or the computer’ s inter nal components to cool down.

4 - Power Mac G4 Cube ATA Hard Drive Removing the Installed Dri ve 1 Remov e the AirP or t Card, if installed. 2 Press and hold the door latch, and then open the AirP or t shield door . . 3 With the AirP or t shield door open, pull the tab to disconnect the A T A ribbon cable connector from the hard driv e.
Power Mac G4 Cube ATA Hard Drive - 5 5 Push in the core latch, and reposition the computer chassis so you can access the heatsink and hard drive . 6 Loosen, but do not remo v e, the three captiv e scre ws at the heatsink. 7 Lift up the loosened heatsink, and slide the hard drive out of the carrier .
6 - Power Mac G4 Cube ATA Hard Drive 4 Reconnect the pow er cable connector and the A T A ribbon cable connector to the drive . 5 Close the AirP or t shield door , and press it down so the door latch engages. 6 Reinstall the AirP or t Card, if applicable .
Power Mac G4 Cube ATA Hard Drive - 7 Replacing the Computer Cor e in the Enclosur e 1 Holding the core by the latch, insert the core into the computer . Note: The core fits into the enclosure only one way. Position the core so the ports are toward the back of the enclosure.
