PowerBook G4 AirPort Card Installation Instructions Be sure to f ollow the instructions in this sheet carefully . F ailure to follo w these instructions could result in damage to your equipment and ma y void your w arranty . W arning: Shar p edges ma y e xist inside your computer and on an y par ts you ma y remov e or install.
2 - PowerBook G4 AirPort Card Opening the Computer 1. Place your computer on a clean, flat surf ace. 2. Shut down y our computer . Disconnect the power cord and an y other cables connected to the computer . W arning: Al ways turn off your computer bef ore opening its case to av oid damaging its internal components.
PowerBook G4 AirPort Card - 3 5. Slide the batter y compar tment latch to remov e the batter y . Make sure to return the batter y latch fully to the r ight. Removing the battery will help you remove the bottom case and prevent you from accidentally turning on the computer while installing the AirPort Card.
4 - PowerBook G4 AirPort Card 7. T o remov e the bottom case y ou will need to disengage it at the left and right sides, then carefully piv ot it f orward to release a retaining clip near the D VD drive slot, as f ollows. Important: Do not push on the rubber feet of the bottom case.
PowerBook G4 AirPort Card - 5 8. When both the left and right sides hav e released, carefully pull up on the bottom case at the edge that is closest to you and rotate it a way from you, piv oting ev enly over the front edge to release a retaining clip that is located near the D VD drive slot.
6 - PowerBook G4 AirPort Card 2. If removing an e xisting AirP or t Card (if not, skip to step 3), pull back on the antenna clip to release the antenna connector and allow the card to rise up slightly , then pull the card from the AirP or t connector .
PowerBook G4 AirPort Card - 7 4. If this is a new installation, pull out the AirP or t antenna cable connector from its holder . 5. Pull up on the top par t of the AirP or t Card connector at the inser tion end to raise it up slightly , if it is not already up.
8 - PowerBook G4 AirPort Card 7. Plug the antenna cable connector into the port, which is located just below the plastic tab , on the end of the AirP or t Card.
PowerBook G4 AirPort Card - 9 Closing the Computer 1. T o attach the bottom case, align the notches on the right and left sides of the case (some of these can be view ed through the batter y opening). Then press down and to ward y ou slightly to secure the case.
10 - PowerBook G4 AirPort Card 4. Replace the batter y . 5. T ur n the computer ov er so that the D VD slot faces y ou. Just below the center of the D VD slot, v erify that the bottom case is flush with the front edge of the slot.
