Unp a c k ing t h e p r inte r 1 Remove everything from the shipping box, but leave the ink cartridges in their packages. 2 Remove the tape and packing material from the inside and outside of the printer. 3 Raise the bright blue lever on the carrier. 4 Remove the cover from the plastic tub that contains the ink cartridge. Y ou can install either the bl ack-onl y c ar trid ge or the f our -co lor c ar trid ge . (Th ese instr ucti ons show t h e f our -co lor c ar trid ge being installed, but the proces s is t h e same f or eit h er cartrid ge .
7P eel the orange tape off the print head. 8S lide the ink cartridge straight into its place in the printer. No t e : Ther e are i nstr ucti ons i nscribed i nsi de the pri nter co v er to remind y ou ho w to install either in k c ar trid ge .
9 Lower the lever to secure the ink cartridge in place. 10 Close the printer’s front cover. 11 Setting Up Your Printer.

3C lose the printer cover. 4 Load a stack of U.S. letter-size or A4 paper into the sheet feeder. To open the output tray, pull here. Be sure to pull it out all the way. Slide this guide so it just touches the edge of the paper. If the stack of paper bows out even slightly, the guide is too tight.

4 Remove the new ink tank from its packaging. 5 Remove the plastic cap from the ink tank. 6S lide the tank into the cartridge, and push it down so it snaps into place. IMPORTANT Make s ure y ou put the co lor in k ta n k on the lef t and the bl ac k i n k tan k on the ri ght.

44 Chapter 4 6 Remove the bright orange cap from the cartridge’s print head. 7P eel the orange tape off the print head. After you snap it off, dispose of the cap.
8S lide the cartridge into its place in the printer. 9 Lower the bright blue lever on the carrier to secure the cartridge in place. 10 Close the printer cover.
