7 Getting Star ted Installing the SIM Card and Battery 1 Remove the battery cov er Pr ess the batter y cover r elease latch. The battery cover should lift off easily . 2 Remove the battery Lev er the bottom edge of the battery and remove it carefully from the battery compartment.
L G GR500R | User Guide 8 3 Install the SIM card Slide the SIM card into the SIM card holder . Make sure that the gold contact area on the card is facing downwar d. T o remove the SIM card, pull it gently in the opposite direction. 4 Install the battery Insert the top of the batter y first into the top edge of the battery compartment.
9 5 Charging your phone Lift the charger port cover on the top side of your GR500R. Insert the charger connector to the phone (‘B’ side of the connector has to be facing up when connecting to the phone) and then plug into the wall socket. Y our GR500R will need to be charged until a message reading “Battery full.
L G GR500R | User Guide 10 Installing a Memory Card Y ou can expand the memory available on your phone by using a microSD™ memory card. The GR500R will support up to a 16 GB microSD™ memory card. TIP! A memory card is an optional accessory. 1 Lift the memory card cover and insert a microSD™ card with the gold contact area facing downwar ds.

13 Star t Up Guide After you install SIM card and battery, and turn on the GR500R, you will see Start Up Guide on the screen. T ouch Start to begin the Start Up Guide feature. T ouch to play the animated Guide for that subject. Or , touch to move on to the next Guide.
L G GR500R | User Guide 14 General F unctions Making a Call 1 Make sure your phone is pow ered on. 2 T ouch and enter a phone number using the touch pad or slide open the qwerty pad and enter a phone number using the qwerty keys. T o edit a number on the display screen, simply press the key to erase one digit at a time.
15 Ending a Call When you have finished a call , press the [END] key . Making a Call from the Con tac ts Y ou can stor e frequently called names and phone numbers in the SIM card as well as in the phone memory k nown as the Contacts. Y ou can dial a number by simply selecting a name in the contacts and pressing the [SEND] key .

While the video call is connecting, you will see your own image; after the other part y has answered , their image will be displayed on the screen. Changing your video call settings 1 Press , selec t Settings and choose Call .
17 Answering a C all When you receiv e a call, the phone rings and the phone icon appears on the screen. If the caller can be identified, the caller’ s phone number (or name if stored in your Address Book) is displa yed. 1 Press the [SEND] or unlock the screen and touch .
L G GR500R | User Guide 18 Setting Profiles Press either of the side v olume keys. Y ou can set your Ringtone to Vibrate All, Alarm Only or Silent All.
19 Vibr ation Mode (Quick) Vibration Mode can be activated by touching and holding from the dial pad. Y ou can also set Vibration Mode by pressing and holding down side volume key as well . The phone will display ‘ Vibrating Mode On’ . If you would like to turn Vibration mode Off , touch and hold again.
L G GR500R | User Guide 20 Entering T ext Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using the phone’ s touch pad. F or example, storing names in the Address Book, writing a message or scheduling events in the calendar all require text to be entere d.
21 Using the T9 Mode The T9 predictive text input mode allows you to ent er words easily with a minimum number of key presses. As y ou touch each key, the phone begins to display the characters that it thinks you are typing based on a built-in dictionar y .
L G GR500R | User Guide 22 T o delete letters , touch . T ouch and hold down to erase the entire text entry. Note: Pr essing the [END] key will save your unsa ved message in the Drafts folder . Using the ABC Mode Use the touch pad keys to enter your text.
23 Using the 123 (Numbers) Mode The 123 Mode enables you to enter numbers in a text message (a telephone number , for example) more quickly . T ouch the keys corresponding to the r equired digits before manually switching back t o the appropriate text entry mode.
L G GR500R | User Guide 24 T o input a symbol in the text entry field, press the key and select a symbol from touch screen. Or t o enter a symbol from the qwerty keys, just press and then press the corresponding key . T o return to ABC mode, press again.
25 When you use Qw er ty Keypad Open the slide and touch . Choose T ext Entr y Settings and Show Key Guide. Y ou can see the Korean key guide on the monitor . T o input numbers, touch . T ouch once, and you can see the Korean key guide as below . T o return its normal input mode, touch again.

Con tac t List This menu allows y ou to save and manage contact address information. The Contact List's functions allow you to add a new address or search sav ed contact addresses by name.
27 New Con tac t This menu allows y ou to add a new contact address. Y ou can enter contact address information, including: name, phone numbers, email addresses, gr oup information, Image, ringtone and a memo . 1 F rom the standby screen, T ouch and touch .
L G GR500R | User Guide 28 • Enter the F irst name, last name or both. • Enter up to five differ ent numbers. T ouch and you can set that number as Speed Dial. • Enter an email address . • Select a Group for the contact. • Set the ringtone for the contact or leave it as default ringtone .
29 • Y our V oicemail is already set to speed dial 1. This is a default setting and can not be changed. T ouch the number you wish t o assign a speed dial contact, then touch . • This will open your addr ess book . T ouch the contact you would like to assign to that number twice.
L G GR500R | User Guide 30 Service Dial Numbers Y ou can view the list of Service Dial Number (SDN) assigned by your network provider . Such numbers could include the emergency services, director y assistance and voice mail numbers. Y ou may see the names of the available services.
31 In- Call Menu Y our phone pr ovides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. T o access these functions during a call, touch to unlock the screen and then touch .
L G GR500R | User Guide 32 Answering an Inc oming Call T o answer an inc oming call when the handset is ringing, simply press the [SEND] key or touch . The handset is also able to warn you of an incoming call while you are alr eady on a call. A tone will sounds in the earpiec e, and the display will show that a second call is waiting.
33 W ARNING: Due to increased volume levels , do not place the phone near your ear while the speakerphone is enabled. Conf erence Calls The confer ence ser vice provides you with the ability to have a simultaneous conversation with more than one caller .
L G GR500R | User Guide 34 Setting Up a Confer ence Call T o set up a conf erence call, place the first call. Once that is connected, follow the steps abo ve to make a second call. Y ou can then join the two separate calls by touching and select the Join Calls from the Confer ence Call menu.
35 Y our Standby Screen Fr om here you can access all menu options, make a quick call and view the status of your phone - as well as many other things. T ouch S creen T ips The standby screen is also a g reat place to get accustomed t o the touch screen.
L G GR500R | User Guide 36 The Quick K eys The quick keys on your standb y screen provide easy , one -touch access to your most used functions. T ouch to bring up the touch Dialing Keypad to make a call. Input the number as you would use a normal keypad and touch or press the hard key .
37 Home Screen Allows you to use Widgets and ev en add them to your Home screen. • Click to open the Home Screen. • Drag a Widget from the roll-out Menu onto the Home screen.
L G GR500R | User Guide 38 • First, touch from the standby screen. T ouch and hold down . • Select to choose a contact. Y ou can choose up to 6 contacts for one page. • If you want to delete a contact from this screen, touch . • T ouch to align the contacts on the screen.
39 Note: T ouch and the contact will have a slight shadow ar ound it. If you slightly shake or move the phone, the contacts will float in the screen. T ouch again and the contacts will be fixed and not be moved by the phone ’ s status. • T ouch to finish editing the Contacts on this screen.

43 Messaging This menu includes functions related to SMS (Short Message Ser vice), MMS (Multimedia Message Ser vice), voic e mail as well as the network's service messages.
L G GR500R | User Guide 44 Messaging Inser ting Multimedia files in outgoing messages is easy . Press the button and select an option from below: • Picture: Y ou can preview the selected picture. T ouch to insert the selected picture. • Audio: Y ou can inser t from your saved A udio files.
45 • T emplate - Te x t : Y ou can easily insert frequently used sentences in the text message. - Multimedia: Preset multimedia templates are av ailable. - Signature: Input your own created signatur e. L G GR500R | User Guide 46 • Delivery Options - Delivery Receipt: If this is set to be On in this menu, you can check whether your message was sent successfully . - Reply via Same Message Cen tre : Y ou can set this to be On or Off . • Save to Dr af ts: Saves the selected message to Drafts.
47 - Edit Message: Go back to the message editing mode. - Save to Drafts: Saves the selected message to Drafts. - T ext Entry Settings: This menu allows you to set the T ext Entry Language . It also allows you to Hide/Show W ord Candidat e List , Nex t W ord Prediction On/ Off .

T o r each the I nbox, fr om the Standby screen, touch and touch Inbox. The following options ar e available when you select a message and touch .
49 • Move to Phone: Mov e a message to the phone. • Message Details: Y ou can view information about receiv ed messages; message Type , Subjec t, Sender's address, and message Time. The following Options ar e available in Inbox folder . • Delete: Y ou can pick a message and delete it.
L G GR500R | User Guide 50 • Log I n 1. H ighlight the ID entry field, touch and then type in your existing email ID . 2. T ouch the P assword field, to highlight it, and enter your password . Quick Tip: Y our password is case sensitive. P ress the button on the keypad to change to lower case or upper case.
51 T o access the IM feature 1 T ouch and touch . 2 Y ou can see available IM clients. The menu items below might not appear as not all IM communities support the various options. In addition, the menu strings may appear differently . This depends on the selected IM communities.

53 • Block List: Displays the list of all blocked Contacts. • Saved C onversations: T his is where an user can view saved conversations . • Settings: - Display Name - My Status: Allows you to se.

T ouch and hold a contact. • Delete Contact: It deletes the selected Contact. • Block/Unblock Contact: This allows you to block/unblock the selected Contact.
55 Menu options available in the Con versation screen • Insert: Y ou can inser t a Symbol, T emplate and emoticons t o the conversation scr een. This f eature is accessed by pressing the left soft key. • Back to Contacts: It brings the screen back to the contacts list.
L G GR500R | User Guide 56 Note: • I n the conv ersation window, y ou can use the up/down Qwert y keys to scroll thr ough the conversation. • The current information might not update in real time so the "Refresh List"/"Refresh C ontac t” option can be used for the most up to date status.
57 After the maximum number of Send attempts has been reached, the Send function has failed. If you were trying to send a text message, open the message and check that the Sending options are correct. Outbox list will display messages in sending failed, sending or waiting, sent order .
L G GR500R | User Guide 58 Sent This is where you can view the lists and contents of sent messages and also verify if transmission was successful. The following [ Options] are available. • Delete: Deletes the selected message from the Sent list. • Select Multiple: Allows you to select multiple messages from the list.
59 T ext Message • T ex t T emplates There are 6 predefined messages in the list. Y ou can view and edit the template messages or create new ones. The following options are available when y ou touch . - Add New: Allows you to cr eate a new template.
L G GR500R | User Guide 60 Multimedia Message • Multimedia T emplates: Multimedia templates are available and can be created her e. • Priority: Y ou can choose to set the priority of the message. • Message Subject: Y ou can enter the MMS Subject when this option is .
61 Service Message Y ou can set the Service option to determine whether or not you will receive service messages. Ask Always , Discard and Save Without Ask options ar e available. Info . Ser vice Info. Service messages are text messages delivered by the netw ork to your handset.

63 Internet This menu shows how t o access the Internet by launching the W AP browser . Note: Check the availability of W AP services, pricing and tariffs with your network operator and/or the service provider which service you wish to use. Service providers will also give you instructions on how to use their services.

65 - New Folder: Allows you t o add a new folder , manually . - List View: Y ou can view the bookmarks list. < Portrait View > Note: Pre-installed bookmarks cannot be deleted or edited by users. In order to change the text input mode for symbol input, please refer to the General F unctions section.

67 Applications T o launch Applications while in the Standby screen, touch the Quick key , touch tab and then touch . This menu displays the list of Java programs downloaded using W AP . All previously downloaded programs can be selected, deleted or viewed in detail within the Application menu.

73 Camera Album Y ou can view the Album containing your Pictures and Videos . For more available options, touch . One by One View / Sort by / Send / Print via Bluetooth / Delete / Slide Show / Delete All . Vi de o T ouch and the tab, then choose . • Shop Videos: Y ou can download videos.

The voice engine inside the handset recognizes the user's utterance and displays name lists or phone numbers.

95 Call Reject This menu allows y ou to turn On or Off Call Reject for all numbers or the numbers in the Call Reject List. • Call Reject On/Off : This feature allows you to choose whether to reject incoming calls, or calls from specific phone numbers.

Also you can choose Vibration type and adjust its intensity . When you set Sound as T ouchscreen F eedback type, you can choose sound type and adjust its volume.
L G GR500R | User Guide 100 Set Flight Mode This allows y ou to use only the phone's features that do not r equire the use of the wireless network when you are in an airplane or in places where the wireless network is prohibited. If you set the flight mode , you will be prompted t o confirm your selection.
101 Security V arious codes and passwords are used to protect the featur es and settings of your phone. They are described in the following sections. • Phone lock: Y ou can use a security code to avoid unauthorized use of the phone. If you set phone lock to When Po wer On, the phone will request a security code whenever you turn the phone on.

103 • Master Clear: Deletes downloaded/user created contents (e.g .: images, videos) from Handset content and the External Memor y card. - Phone Deletes all downloaded/user created Images, Videos & Sounds from the Handset Memory . Deletes Personal Information stored in the handset memory (e.
