If the ser v er is in the loc k ed position (the y ellow security LED on the front panel is on), use the Allen ke y that came with the server to unloc k it. 4. If the cable management arm is not in use, unplug all e xternal cables e xcept the power cord.

Xserve Logic Board with Processor/Heatsink - 5 Dual-Slot Riser 1. Release the thumb screw that secures the card to the bac k of the server . (Figure 4) 2. Disconnect the riser from the logic board and remove the riser from the server . Figure 4 Single-Slot Riser 1.

Xserve Logic Board with Processor/Heatsink - 7 A T A Controller Board 1. Disconnect the blo wer cab le nearest the A T A controller board. (Figure 8) 2. Press in on both ends of the clip securing the r ight side of the A T A controller board and remov e the clip from the server .
Xserve Logic Board with Processor/Heatsink - 8 Po wer Supply 1. Release the locking latch on the po wer supply cab le connector and disconnect the cable from the driv e interconnect board. (Figure 9) 2. Release the thumbscrew that secures the po wer supply to the chassis .
Xserve Logic Board with Processor/Heatsink - 9 Logic Board 1. Release the thumb screw that secures the logic board to the chassis . (Figure 10) 2. Mov e the logic board f orw ard and up slightly to release it from the f our mounting pegs. 3. Tilt up the end of the logic board nearest the blo wers so that the board ports clear the chassis.
Xserve Logic Board with Processor/Heatsink - 10 2. Install the replacement logic board in the bottom housing, making sure the board fits ov er the f our mounting pegs on the chassis floor . W arning: When replacing the logic board, make sure the por ts and the identifier button on the bac k of the boar d align with the openings in the chassis.

Note: When replacing the ATA controller board clips, orient them so that the long end of each clip points away from the middle of the server. Place the inside edge of the clip into the small notch and then snap down the outer edge of the clip.

(Figure 14) Figure 14 Note: Replacing the logic board in the ser v er changes its Ethernet ID number . The new number is printed on an Ether net ID label pac kaged with the replacement logic board.
