Touch To Access the printer menus. Note: These menus are availa ble only when the printer is in the Ready state. FTP Access the File Transfer Protocol (FTP ) menus and scan documen ts directly to an FTP server. Status message bar • Show the current printer status such as Rea dy or Busy .

Setting up and usin g the home screen applications Accessing the Embedded Web Server The Embe dded Web Server is the pri nter Web pag e that lets you view and rem otely co nfigur e printer se ttings even when you are not p hysicall y nea r the pri nter.

Understanding WS ‑ Scan A WS ‑ Scan icon and its description Icon Description The Web Services ‑ Scan application lets you sca n documents at the network pr inter, and then send the scanned image to you r computer.

Loading paper and specialty media This section expl ains how to use th e 250-sheet tray, the ma nual feeder, an opti onal 550-sheet tr ay, and the 650-sheet duo dra wer wit h an inte grated m ulti purpose feede r. 2 Squeeze the length guide tab, and then slide th e guide to the correct positio n for the paper size being loaded. Note: U se the siz e indicat ors o n the bottom of the tr ay to help pos iti on the guid e.
3 If the paper i s longer than lett er ‑ size paper, then push the green tab at th e back of the tray to extend it. 4 Flex the sheets back and forth to loos en them. Do not fold or crease the p aper. Straighten the edges o n a level surface. 5 Load th e paper stack with the recom mended print s ide fa ceup.
7 Ins ert the tra y. 8 If a different type or size of paper was loaded than the type or size previo usly loaded in the tray, then change the Paper T ype or Pap er Size sett ing for th e tray fr om the prin ter cont rol pane l. Note: M ixing p aper s izes o r types in a pape r tray may caus e jams.
Loading the multipurpose feeder 1 Push the mu ltipurpose feeder latch to the left. 2 Open the multipurpos e feeder. 3 Grasp t he extensi on, an d pull i t straigh t out until it is fully extend ed. 4 Prepare the paper fo r loading. • Flex shee ts of paper ba ck and forth to lo osen them .
• Flex a stack of envelopes back and forth to loosen them. Straight en the edges on a level sur face. Warn ing —Pot ent ial D amag e: Nev er use e nvelopes with stam ps, clas ps, sna ps, windows , coat ed lini ngs, or self ‑ stick adhe sive s. Thes e envelo pes ma y sever ely damag e the prin ter.

2 When Load Single Sheet Fe eder with [pap er type] [paper siz e] appe ar s, load the shee t facedown into the manual feeder. Load envelopes on the left side of th e feeder with the flap side up. Note: Ali gn the long edge of th e sheet so that it is flush with th e right side of the manual feeder.
Linkin g and u nlinkin g trays Linking trays Tray linking is useful for large print jobs or multiple co pies. When one linked tray is empty, paper feeds from the next linked t ray. When the Pape r Siz e and Paper Type setti ngs ar e the same for any trays, the tr ays are automatically linked.

If you do not know the IP addre ss of the print er, you can: • View the I P address on the pr inter control panel in the TCP/IP sectio n under the Netwo rks/Port s menu.
4 Type a unique name for the recipien t, and then enter the e-mail address . Note: If you are entering multiple addresses, then separ ate each address with a comma (,). 5 Select the s can sett ings (Form at, Conten t, Colo r, and Reso lution) . 6 Enter a shor tcut num ber, a nd then click Add .
