Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 22 Caring for your print cartridges Installing or replacing print cartridges The following procedures are for installing or replacing a print cartridge when your printer is connected to a computer.
Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 23 Caring for your print cartridges If you are installing a Photo or Black cartridge, a Change Cartridge screen appears. Choose the type of cartridge you are installing. 4 At the printer , pull the handle of the print cartridge you are replacing to ward you until you hear a snap.

Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 27 Caring for your print cartridges Aligning the print cartridges Use the printer software to align the print cartridges when: • Y ou install the printer software on your computer . • Y ou re-connect the printer to your computer - e ven if you ha ve aligned them from the operator panel.
Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 28 Caring for your print cartridges The Align Cartridge dialog box appears on your screen. Depending on the cartridge combination you ha ve installed in your printer , a test page with one or more alignment patterns is printed.
Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 29 Caring for your print cartridges Cleaning the print nozzles The print cartridge nozzle test helps you pinpoint any clogged nozzles. The nozzle test also cleans the print cartridge by cleaning (purging) the nozzles.
Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 30 Caring for your print cartridges Look for a break in the diagonal lines. A broken line indicates clogged nozzles. If the bottom line has fe wer breaks, or better print quality than the top line, run the test two more times.
Caring for y o ur print car tr idges 31 Caring for your print cartridges When cleaning the color print cartridge, wipe the nozzles in one direction so the colors do not mix. T o dissolve dried ink, hold the damp cloth against the nozzles for about three seconds.

Printing from DOS 39 Printing from DOS – copy is the DOS copy command. – filename is the name of the print f ile you cre- ated. –l p t n is the port where your printer is connected. For e xample, lpt 1 or lpt 2 . –/ b instructs the computer to send the data in binary form.

For better te xt and graphics printing, we recommend replacing the Photo print cartridge with a Black print cartridge (P/N 12A1970).
