3 Open the memory card connector lat ches. 4 Alig n the notc h on th e me mory c ard wi th th e ri dge on the c onn ector . 5 Push th e memory ca rd str aight into the co nnec tor unti l it clicks into place.
Installing a flash memory or firmware card The syst em board has two connec tions f or an o ptional flash m emor y or fir mware c ard. Onl y one o f each m ay be insta lled, but the connectors are interchangeable.
Notes: • The entir e length of the c onnect or on t he card must touch a nd be f lush a gainst t he syst em boa rd. • Be ca reful no t to dam age the c onnect ors.
5 Push the in ternal pr int server or port interface car d firmly in to the ca rd conn ector on t he syste m board. 6 Inser t a s crew in to th e hole on th e righ t si de of the co nnecto r s lot. Ge ntly t ighte n th e scre w to se cure the card to the system boar d tray.
3 Attach the ribbo n cabl e to th e hard disk. 4 Atta ch th e mountin g plat e to t he hard disk wi th the scre ws. 5 Press the ri bbon cable co nnecto r in to the hard dis k connect or on the system bo ard.
6 Flip the hard disk over, and th en press t he three post s on the mo unting plat e into the h oles on the syst em board. The hard disk snap s into place. 7 Reins ta ll the syst em b oard . Remove stacked trays one at a time from the t op down. 3 Align the p rinter w ith th e tray, and then lo wer the pr int er into place. 4 Turn the pr inter back o n. 5 Set the pr int er softwa re to reco gniz e the opti onal in put sou rce.

In Macintosh Click t he CD i con on the des ktop. Note: D is the letter of yo ur CD or DVD dr ive. 3 Click Instal l , and then follow th e instruction s on the computer screen.

Wireless E ncrypt ion Protoc ol (WEP ) and Wi-F i Prote cted Access (W PA) are t ypes of secur ity us ed on a ne twor k.
– To find the WP A/WPA2 pre shared k ey or passphr ase f or the wi rel ess net work, s ee the docume ntation that came with the access point, see the Embedded Web Server associated with the access point, or consul t your system s upport person.

Loading paper and specialty media This section explains how to lo ad the 500- and 2000-sheet tra ys, and the multipur pose feeder. It also includes informa tion abo ut pa per or ientatio n, set ting the Pape r Size an d Paper Type, and linking and unli nking t rays.
8 Touch Submit to save your selection. Submitting Selection app ea rs, fol low ed by th e Pape r menu . 9 Touch to re turn to the home s cre en. Loading the standard or optional 500 ‑ sheet trays The prin ter ha s two s tandard 500 ‑ sheet trays (Tray 1 and Tray 2 ), and it ma y have one or more op tiona l 500 ‑ sheet trays.
3 Flex the sheets ba ck and forth to loosen the m, and then fan them. Do n ot fold or crease t he paper. Straight en the edges on a level su rface. 4 Load the pa per stack wit h the rec ommen ded prin t side face up. Load the paper in ei ther the lo ng ‑ edge or sh ort ‑ ed ge orientati on as shown .
6 Ins ert the tra y. 7 If the paper type you loaded diffe rs from the type that was previously loaded in the tray, then change the Pap er Type s ettin g fo r th e tr ay. Loading A5 or Statement paper sizes The prin ter tr ays ca nnot dis ting uis h be twee n A5 ‑ (148 x 210 mm) and Statemen t ‑ size (139.
Loading B5 or Executive paper sizes The printer trays cannot dis tingu ish between B5 ‑ a nd Execut ive ‑ size paper when both sizes are loaded in the trays. From the Si ze Sensi ng menu , specif y which siz e you want the printer to detect . Load either B5 ‑ or Exec utive ‑ size paper in the paper trays, but not both.
2 If you are loa ding pape r with a differ ent wi dth or l ength, then adju st the wid th and length g uides. 3 Flex the sheets ba ck and forth to loosen the m, and then fan them. Do n ot fold or crease t he paper. Straight en the edges on a level su rface.
4 Load paper in the tr ay with the pri nt side d own. M A X • Place p re-punch ed pa per wit h the hole s towar d the l eft side of th e tray. • When loading letterhead, place th e header toward the front of t he tray.

Loading the multipurpose feeder The multip urpose fee der can hold se veral siz es and types of print media, such as transpar encie s, postca rds, note cards, and envelo pes. It can b e used for single-pa ge or manual pr intin g or as an a dditio nal t ray.
4 Flex the sheets or envelop es back and forth to loosen them, th en fan them. Do not fold or crease the paper. Straighten the edges on a level surface. 5 Load the paper or specialty media in to the feeder. Note: M ake sure the p aper i s below the m axim um fill li ne.
Loading letter ‑ or A4 ‑ size paper in the short-edge orientation By defa ult, the p rinter is s et to re cogniz e letter- o r A4-siz e p aper loaded in the long-edge orientation. If you want to load le tter- or A4 -siz e paper i n th e shor t-ed ge or ientat ion, make sure yo u enable Sho rt-edg e Pri nting .
To un link a t ray, ch ange the follow ing tra y setti ngs so that they do no t mat ch the s ettin gs of any other t ray: • Paper Type (for exam ple: Plai n Paper, Le tterhead , Custom Type <x>) Paper Typ e names de scrib e the pape r charact erist ics.

Fiber content Most h igh ‑ qua lity xerogra phic pa per is mad e from 100% ch emically tre ated p ulped wood. This content provides th e paper with a high degree of stability resu lting in fewer paper feeding problems and better p rint quality. Paper containing fibe rs such as cot ton c an nega tivel y affe ct pap er hand ling.
Storing paper Use these paper storag e guidelines to help avoid jams and uneven print quality: • For best resu lts, store paper where the tem perature is 21°C (70 °F) and the relative humid ity is 40%.
