1 Introduction American Po w er Con version Corporation (APC) is the leading national and in ternational manufac- turer of state-of-the- art uninterrupt ible power su pplies, redundant switches, powe r man agement soft- ware, an d related equipment.
2 Connecting Equipment and Power to the UPS S MART -UPS R EAR P ANEL 230V M OD ELS 120V/100V M ODELS 1. Plug in the b attery conn ector n . 2. Connect equ ip ment to the UPS. Note: Do not connect a la ser printer to the UPS. A laser printer d raws significantl y more power than other type s of equipm ent and may overload the UPS.
3 B ASIC C ONNE CTORS Serial Port USB Port Power management s oft ware an d interface kits can be used wi th the UPS. Use only interface kits supplied or appro ved by APC. Use the APC supplied cable to connect to the Serial Port. DO NOT use a standard serial interface cable since it is incompatible with the UPS connector.
4 2: O PERA TION S MART -UPS F RONT P ANEL Power On Power Off Load Battery Charge Online The online LED illuminates when the UPS is supplying utilit y power to the con- nected equipment. If the LED is not lit, the UPS is eit her not turned ON, or is sup- plying battery power.
5 AVR Boost This LED illuminates to indicate the UPS is compensating for a low utility voltage. On Battery When the on batter y power LED is lit the UPS is supplying battery power to the con nected equipment. When on batter y, the UPS sounds an alarm—four beeps ev er y 30 s econds.

8 4: S TO R AG E , M A INTENA NCE , A ND T R ANSPORTING Storage Store the UPS covered and positioned as for proper functioning, in a cool, dry location, with the bat- teries fully charged. At -15 t o +30 ° C (+5 to +86 ° F), charge the UPS battery every six months.
9 1500VA Model Step 3 Pull the battery module out of the compartment until t he back of the modu le is flush with th e outer edg es of the UPS. Disconn ect the battery connector. 1000VA Model Step 3 Disconnect the batter y cable termin a ls before re moving t he batt er y module fr om the UP S.
