1. Introduction The SmartSlot Measure-UPS II performs temperature and humidit y sensin g , as well as contact monitorin g . Measure-UPS II supports up to four zones of contact monitorin g , each of which supports both normall y open and normall y closed contacts.

2. Installation Use the followin g procedure to install SmartSlot Measure-UPS II : 1. Install and configure an y software or hardware that will be used with Measure-UPS II for data reporting (see software and hard- ware compatibility abov e). 2. Using figure 2 as a guide, install Measure-UPS II in the host SmartSlot.
Do not: • Cov er any of the ventilation holes on the probe • Immerse the probe or place it where de w can be expected to form • Use the probe in an en vironment with chlorine gas or insecti- cides. 5. The contact monitoring connection is a two piece design.
3. Operation Check 1. Confirm the basic operation of Measure-UPS II . Use the data reporting system (see hardware and software compatibility in sec- tion 1) to confirm that Measure-UPS II is w orking.
4. Sensor Zone Connections Connection Information Measure-UPS II supports normall y open and normall y closed loop s y stems, and allows mixin g of normall y open and normall y closed sensors on an y zone. See the fi g ures below for more information on usin g multiple sensors in one zone and for s y stem hookup.
In order to avoid receivin g alarm indications on unused zones, install a j umper wire between the COM and NC connectors for each unused zone. T o use more than one sensor on a zone, follow the dia g ram below . Connect normall y open sensors in parallel and normall y open sensors in series.
See below for a t y pical hookup. Note that in this example s y stem zone 1 is a normall y closed motion zone with power for the passive infrared detector supplied b y Measure-UPS II . Zone 2 is a normall y open zone. Zone 3 is a combination normall y open and normall y closed zone.
5. Sensor Selection Measure-UPS II ma y be used with an y dr y contact closure t y pe sen- sors. The Measure-UPS II sensor inputs are desi g ned to monitor cir- cuits that have no volta g e potential of their own.
6. Maintenance Measure-UPS II requires periodic maintenance. Confirm contact sens- in g usin g the sensor manufacturers recommended intervals and meth- ods. Use the data reportin g s y stem to verif y that each sensor operates as planned. Clean the temperature (or temperature and humidit y ) probe whenever there is a visible buildup of dust.
7. T roubleshooting Problem Possible Cause Solution Constant Alarm on one or more unused zones. Unused zones not jumpered. Connect a wire between the COM and NC terminals of all unused zones (see section 4). Constant low tem- perature and humid- ity readings.
8. Service If the SmartSlot Measure-UPS II requires service: 1. Check Measure-UPS II using the troubleshooting chart in section 7 before calling for service. 2. Note the model number of the Measure-UPS II , the serial number , and the date purchased. See the back cov er of this manual for the correct telephone number and call customer service.
