General safety guidelines Always observe the following precautions to r educe the risk of injury and property damage. Service Do not attempt to service a product yourself unless instr ucted to do so by the Customer Support Center . Use only a service provider who is appr oved to repair your particular product.

This software enables you to write dir ectly to CD-RW , CD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-R W , and DVD-R media using the drive letter like you would if you were writing to a diskette.
Hardware and software requirements Yo u must have the following hardwar e installed on your host computer in order to use this option: v A vailable USB 2.
4 Power indicator The green LED indicates the power status of the drive. v LED is on: when the drive is connected in any of the supported power configurations of your computer . v LED is off: when the drive is not connected to the USB port or AC adapter .
Refer to the diagram above when configuring your drive Configuration 1: Connecting the drive using self power with AC adapter This configuration is used when connecting to AC power (use adapter shipped with the drive). Requirements v One standard USB cable (shipped with this option).

Chapter 5. Using the Lenovo USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive (With LightScribe) This section provides information on how to handle, load, and car e for your media and your Lenovo USB 2.
Handling and caring for a disc Carefully handle and clean discs, especially writable media types such as CD-R and CD-R W discs, so that they remain r eadable. Yo u can prolong the life of your discs by using the following pr ecautions: v Always store discs in their original packaging.
Using CD-Rs and CD-RWs The host USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner drive can write to both CD-R and CD-R W discs. CD-R discs cannot be erased, but can be used with standard CD-ROM drives and CD players. Yo u can use CD-R discs to recor d audio tracks, store data, ar chive files, and copy files from another CD.
4. In the Run box type e:launch.bat where e is the drive letter of the USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner drive. 5. If you get a warning from Internet Explor er about malicious scripts, right-click on the warning bar and select Allow Blocked Content . 6. Select Software from the left-hand navigator bar .
Using Intervideo WinDVD Creator W ith Intervideo W inDVD Cr eator , you can captur e, edit, and record video and audio files. Yo u can also use Intervideo W inDVD Creator to cr eate and recor d DVD videos using your own video and audio files.
In addition, you will find the Enable digital audio for this CD-ROM device with this Lenovo USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive (W ith LightScribe) check box, on the USB 2.

Windows XP In W indows Media Player , you will find Digital Playback check box when you click the CD Audio tab in the Properties window , as shown in the following figure.
In addition, you will find the Enable Digital Music CD with this USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive check box on the USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner property on Device Manager , as shown in the figure below . When there is no setting item for the digital playback in your player softwar e, try the above setting.

Operating system support The prer equisites for W inDVD to work are Internet Explor er 5 and DirectX 8.1. These components are not present in all Micr osoft Operating systems. This section list steps that are requir ed to update the differ ent operating systems to allow DVD playback.
Starting WinDVD To start W inDVD, complete the following pr ocedure: 1. Click Start . 2. Click Programs . 3. Click InterV ideo W inDVD to open the DVD movie player window . For more information on how to play the DVD movie player , refer to the W inDVD help information on the USB 2.
4. Insert the disc which you are copying. 5. Press the Record button. Note: Copy protected commer cial DVDs cannot be copied. Note: Copying or imaging discs without the copyright owner ’s permission can result in legal penalties. For more information on copyright law , consult your legal advisor .
Chapter 6. T roubleshooting Computer problems can be caused by har dware, software, or user err or .
