Chapter 1. Pr oduct overview This chapter pr ovides an overview of the tablet, including the locations of the connect ors and contr ols, tablet features, accessories, specications, and operating envir onment.

Chapter 2. Getting started This chapt er helps you quickly start using your tablet. Initial setup instructions T o use the tablet the rst time after you take it out of the box, ensur e that you follow the instructions below: 1. Use the supplied USB cable and ThinkP ad T ablet AC Adapter to connect the tablet to an electrical outlet.
Using the onscr een k eyboard Use the onscreen keyboar d t o type t ext, numbers, symbols, and other char acters. When you rotat e the tablet, the onscreen keyboar d automatically rotat es to the corr esponding portrait or landscape view . T o open the onscreen keyboar d, do the following: 1.
Some tablets ar e equipped with a T ablet Digitiz er P en as a standard featur e. The T ablet Digitiz er P en consists of a tip 1 and a click butt on 2 . Hold the pen and point the tip at the display to move the cursor . T o make a selection (single click), tap the display once with the pen.

Chapter 3. Wireless networks and devices Y our tablet can connect t o a variety of networks and devices, including mobile networks (3G or 4G), Wi-Fi data networks, and Bluetooth devices. Note: Some tablet models can connect to both mobile networks (3G or 4G) and Wi-Fi networks, while others can connect t o Wi-Fi networks only .
4. Close the SIM card slot cover and r estart your tablet. Determining which mobile network you are using If you have connected t o a network, you can check the network name t o see which mobile network you are using. T o check the network name, do one of the following: • Swipe in from the right edge of the scr een t o display the charms.
3. T ap the network icon. A list of available Wi-Fi networks is displayed. 4. T ap the Wi-Fi network name and hold your nger on the scr een for two seconds. Then take your nger off the scr een. A menu is displayed. 5. T ap Set as met ered connection .
Adding a Wi-Fi network If you want to access a Wi-Fi network that does not broadcast its network name (also called a service set identier or SSID), you must add that Wi-Fi network befor e you can connect t o it. T o add a Wi-Fi network, do the following: 1.

Chapter 4. Battery and ac power This chapter pr ovides instructions on how t o charge the batt ery, how to e xtend the batt ery life between charges, and how to view the battery status. Charging the battery Y our tablet is shipped with an ac adapter to charge your tablet from any standar d ac power outlet.

Chapter 6. ThinkP ad T ablet 2 options Y our tablet might come with a ThinkP ad T ablet 2 Dock or a ThinkP ad T ablet 2 Bluetooth K eyboard with Stand. If your tablet does not come with one, you can purchase one fr om Lenovo at http://www.lenovo.com/accessories/services/index.
ThinkP ad T ablet 2 Dock The ThinkP ad T ablet 2 Dock (her eafter called the dock) holds your tablet in an upright position and fr ees your hands t o do other tasks. It also provides you with easy access t o connectors for USB devices, le transfers, charging, audio input, audio output, and video output.
6 P ower connect or Use the 65 W ac power adapter shipped with the dock to pr ovide power to the tablet and charge the batt er y . Using the Bluetooth keyboar d T o use the Bluetooth keyboard, install your tablet into the keyboar d rst, as shown in the following illustr ation.
• View all applications that you have opened Screen control • Brightness down • Brightness up Fn k ey control • T oggle the F1-F12 key functionality t o use the keys in default mode or in legacy mode. In default mode, you can initiat e the special functions illustrat ed on each key by tapping the corr esponding k ey directly .

Using passwords By using passwor ds, you can help pr event your tablet fr om being used by others. Once you set a password, a pr ompt is displayed on the screen each time you turn on the tablet.

Chapter 11. T roubleshooting problems This chapter describes on what to do if you e xperience a problem with your tablet. T roubleshooting The problems and solutions described in this chapter are meant only as a guide. They are not denitive problem solving techniques.
– The speaker is not covered. – The speaker mute function is disabled. – If you ar e using a headset, unplug it, then plug it in again. – The volume is not turned to the lowest level. If the pr oblem persists, contact L enovo for technical support.
Solution: The EEPROM checksum is not correct (block # 0 and 1). The system board should be r eplaced, and the bo x serial number needs to be reinstalled. Have the tablet serviced. Message: 0189: Invalid RFID congur ation information ar ea Solution: The EEPROM checksum is not correct (block # 4 and 5).
Solution : If you have modied a partition on your solid stat e drive by using partition software, information about that partition, or the mast er boot recor d might have been destroyed.
