Chapter 1. About the port r eplicator This chapt er contains product description and syst em r equirements for the Lenovo ® USB 2.0 P ort Replicat or with Digital Video (her eafter called the port r eplicator).
1 P ower and connection indicator When the power and connection indicat or is on in blue, the port r eplicator is successfully connected to the ac power adapter . 2 USB connector indicator When the USB connector indicator is on in gr een, the port replicator is successfully connected t o a notebook computer and USB device.
Chapter 2. Installing the port replicator This chapt er pr ovides information on how t o connect the port r eplicator to your not ebook computer and how to install and uninstall the device driver .
T o install the device driver on the Windows XP , Windows Vista, or Windows 7 oper ating syst em, do the following: 1. Save any open documents and exit all applications. 2. Insert the Software and User Guide CD and do one of the following: • If the CD starts aut omatically, go to step 3.
Chapter 3. Using the port replicat or This chapt er provides information on how to use the audio connectors, USB connect ors, DVI-I video output connector , DVI-I t o VGA adapter , and E thernet connect or on the port replicat or .
T o use the DVI-I to VGA adapter with an e xternal monitor , do the following: 1. Connect the DVI-I to VGA adapter to the DVI-I video output connector on the port replicat or . 2. Tighten the two screws on the DVI-I to VGA adapt er . 3. Connect the VGA connect or of the ext ernal monitor t o the DVI-I to VGA adapt er .
Chapter 4. W orking with the port replicator This chapter provides information about the video output function of the port replicator and instructions on how t o work with the port r eplicator utility, which enables you to congure the port replicator to your needs.
The port r eplicator automatically selects the settings (screen resolution, color quality, and refr esh r ate) for the ext ernal monitor , which will enable the best resolution based on your notebook computer settings.
Setting the r esolution of the e xternal monitor In Mirr or mode, you can adjust the resolution of your notebook comput er , and the settings will apply to both your notebook computer monitor and the e xternal monit or . In Extend mode, you can only set the resolution of the ext ernal monitor .
2. Select Screen Rotation , and then select one of the options: • Normal: The ext ernal monitor display will remain the same as your notebook computer monitor display . • Rotat ed L eft: The e xternal monit or display will be r otated 90 degr ees to the left.
Manually enabling the audio connect ors T o manually enable the audio connectors on the port replicat or , depending on the oper ating syst em you ar e using, do one of the following: F or the Windows XP operating system: 1. Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar notication ar ea.

Check the following it ems rst to try to correct the pr oblem. General 1. The power and connection indicator of the port replicator is not on.
3. Y ou cannot play back the DVD on your e xternal monitor but can play it back on your notebook computer monitor . Some notebook computers do not support the Certied Output P rotection P rotocol (COPP), and you will not be able t o play back the protect ed DVD on the external monitor connected to the port r eplicator .
