INTRODUCTION Thank you for choosing the APC Sur geArrest PM3 Series Surge Protection Device. The APC non-mo dular Sur ge Protection Devi ce (SPD) is a high qu ality , high energ y sur ge attenuation system that has been designed to protect sensitive equipment fro m d amaging transient v o ltage surges.

Service Cl earance In addition to national and local code requirements, 32 inches of service clearance is needed at the front of th e SPD. Equipment Performance T o obtain the maximum system performan ce, the unit must be located as close to the circuit to be protected as possi- ble, mini mizing the interc onnectin g wire leng th.

Parallel Connection When making a parallel type of connection (Figure 2), th e length of the wiring to the Surge Protection Devi ce (SPD) must b e kept as sh ort as possible to subst antially enhance the performance. Lo ng wire runs are to be avoided fo r the unit to perform as inten ded.

8. Dress the power cabl es so the ribbo n cables wi ll not be pinched , crush ed, or other wise damaged when th e cover is installed. If connecting Dry Contacts, it may be ef fective to in stall communication lines prior to p ower conductors.

LIMITED W ARRANTY APC warrants it’ s AC panel protection prod ucts against defects i n workmanship and materi als for 5 years from the date of original purchase. The panel protection device must be installed by a qualified and licensed el ectr ician in order t o qualif y for warrant y proctection .
