1 Introduction The SURT192XLBP connects to the APC Smart-UPS ® R T 3000/ 5000/7500/ 10000 V A. Toget her these units pr ovide extende d protecti on from bl ackouts, browno uts, sags, and surges fo r your computer and othe r critical electronic equipment.
2 Installing the External Battery Pack(s) Your UPS model may vary from the model depicted in the diagram. The battery installation procedure is identical for all models. Prior to connecting the ba tteries, and tie brackets (when used), remove the feet (if inst alled), fr om the bottom of the UPS.

7 Setting the UPS to Recognize the Battery Pack(s) This configuration affects the acc uracy of the runtime calcul ations that the UPS performs while running on battery power. Settings are m ade throug h supplied PowerChut e® Business Edition , or Po werChute® Netw ork Shutdow n software, optional Smart Slot acce ssory cards, or Terminal Mode.
8 5000 VA models: Terminal Mode is a menu driven interface that enables enhanced c onfiguration of the UPS. Connect the serial cable to the se rial port on the back of the UPS. When using Po werChute ® N etwork Shut down software: 1. Open a t erminal pr ogram.
