6 1. Introduc tion Thank you for choosing the X200xp Thermal Imaging Camera. With its small size, rugged desi gn, and simplicity, you can now focus on the job at h and, rather th an the camera in your hand. Before using this camera, p lease read these instr uctions carefully, and retain them for future ref erence.
7 The X200xp was designed to sens e differing amounts of long wavelength infrared coming from the various areas of a s cene and to convert them to corresponding intensities of visible light on a display.
8 • Handling & Precautions ⇒ All batteries can cause property damage or bodily injury if a conductive material such as je welry or keys touch exposed terminals. Exercise care when placing b atteries inside a pocket, case, or other cont ainer with metal ob jects.

10 • Holding the Camera ⇒ The Camera can be mounted to a tripod using the 1/4-20 ins ert. ⇒ The Camera can be held either right-handed , or left-handed. ⇒ To avoid dropping the camera, atta ch the strap provided. Bo th a neck strap, and a wrist st rap are provided for your convenience.
11 • Loading the Batteries Open the battery Door Unscrew Battery Door knob Counterclockwise Open the door to install batteries Install 2 AA Batterie s “+” & “ – “ symbols inside the batter y compartment indicate th e direction to install batteries Notice the Raised Tab next to the (+) sign, and the Sunken Tab next to the (-) sign.
12 Close the battery Door Close the Batter y Door Screw Battery Door Knob Clockwise Batteries ⇒ The camera will operate from several b attery types – Alkaline, Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiM h) rechargeable, or Lithium - as long as the Batteries are AA size.
13 Batteries ⇒ When replacing batteri es, always replac e BOTH batteries. Mixing a fresh battery with a p a rtially discharged battery is potentially hazardous. ⇒ Never mix battery types (Alkaline, rechargeable, Li thium, etc). Both bat teries must be of the same t ype.

15 • Adjusting the Display Brightness Turn the on/off knob past the on/off deten t, continuing to increase the LCD display brig htness. Brighter LCD Display: Turn Clockwise Dimmer LCD Display: Turn Counterclockwise To maximize battery life, set th e LCD Display to the minimu m brightness setting practical.
16 • Focusing for Close-up Operation The X200xp has overall viewing range from 15ft to infinity. In the Far Focus position, objects from 15ft to infinity will be in focus. By rotating the Lens, objects as close as 4ft can be brought into focus. The Lens may feel difficult to turn.

Accessories Contact L-3 Communications Infrared Products, for accessori es that are approved for use with your X200xp Camera. • Accessory Video & Po wer Cables Common accessories for the X200xp cam era are: AC/DC Power Adapter Power Cable Video Cable These may appear the same as common power/video cables.
18 AC/DC Power Adapter Connect the AC/DC Power Adapter to the X200xp Connector labeled “Power”, and to AC powe r (wall outlet). Connecting the AC/DC Power Adapter will disable the batteries, and the X200xp will receive its power from this outlet .

26 HOW TO RETURN PRODUCTS FOR WARRANTY REPAIR: 1. Return the product to your Authorized Dealer.
