1 Introduction The APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is designed to prevent blackouts, brow n outs, sags, and surges from reaching your eq uipment. The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) filters small uti l- ity line fluctuations and isolates your equipment from large disturbances by internally disconnecting from the utility line.
2 2: S TART UP Connect the Battery Œ • Connect black wire to battery. (Red wire is already connected.) Note: Small sparks at the poin t of battery conne c tion are normal. Ž • Connect Equipment to the UPS Rear Panels 110/120 V: 230 V: § 230 V models: The top off - white outlet pr o- vides surge protection only.
3 Connect the UPS to the Network (if Applicable) Network Connectors Serial Port Telephone/Network Surge Suppression Ports Use only interface kits a p proved by APC. Use only the supplied cable to connect to the Serial Port. A standard ser ial interface cable is inco m- patible with the UPS.

7 5: S TORAGE AND M AINTENANCE Sto rage Store the UPS covered in a cool, dry location, with the ba t tery fully charged. At - 15 to +30 ° C (+5 to +86 ° F), charge the UPS ba t tery every six months. At +30 to +45 ° C (+86 to +113 ° F), charge the UPS ba t tery every three months.

10 Shipping and Service Prepare the UPS for shipping: Shutdown and disconnect any equipment attach ed to the UPS. Shut down the UPS, and di s connect the UPS from the utility power outlet. Disconnect the battery. If the UPS requires service do not return it to the dealer.
11 7: R EGULATORY AND W ARRANTY I NFORMATION 110/120 V models This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pu r- suant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial enviro n ment.
12 Limited Warranty American Power Conversio n (APC) warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase.
