8 Chapter 1 Camera Screen Icons These icons appear on your camera screen when the settings are active. *For Capture mode descrip tions, see page 16 . **For fl ash icons, see page 24 .
9 Chapter 1 Inserting an SD/MMC Card Y o ur camera has 16 MB of internal memory . However , optio nal SD/MMC cards provide removable, reusable st orage for pictures an d vide os. CAUTION: The card can only be inse rted one way; forcing it may damage the camera or card.
10 Chapter 1 Choosing Internal Memory or SD/MMC Card The camera offers two options for storing pict ures and videos: Internal Memory — Store pictu res and videos in 16 MB internal memory . SD/MMC Card — Store pictures a nd vide os on a card. The number/length of pictures/videos depends on th e size of the card.
11 Chapter 1 Checking Y our Storage Setting In Still an d Video modes , the st orage location icon t hat appears in the status area indicates the camera ’ s storage locat ion. T o check the location, either: ! T urn the Mode dial from the Off position, or ! In any cap ture mod e, press .

16 Chapter 2 Picture-Taking Mod es Use this mode For: Auto Gene ral pictur e-taking . Automatical ly sets exposure, focus, and flash. Sport Subjects that are in motion. Shutter speed is fast. Portrait Full-frame portraits of people. Allows the subject to be sharp and the backgro und to be indisti nct.
17 Chapter 2 PAS Mode Use PAS mode when you want ultimate creative cont rol. P AS mode gives you quick access to Program, Aperture prio rity , an d Shutter priority modes. See page 18 for directions on how to select the mode s and s etting s in P AS mode .

Small er ape rture sett ings keep bo th foreground a nd background sharp, good for landscap es and well- lit conditi ons.
20 Chapter 2 Liveview — Framing with the Camera Screen When you turn on Liveview , the camera screen displ ays a live image of what the lens sees. Use the camera screen to frame your subject. IMPORT ANT : Live view qui c kly depl et es ba t t e r y po w er ; us e it sparin gly .
21 Chapter 2 Using the Auto F ocus Framin g Marks In Liveview , the framing marks i ndicate the area of your scene that the camera is focu sing on . For th e best po ssible pi ctures, t he cam era attemp ts to f ocus on foreground subjects, even if the subjects are not centered in the scene.
22 Chapter 2 Quickview — Reviewing the Picture Just Taken After you take a picture, the camera screen d isplays a Quickview of tha t picture for approximat ely 5 seconds. While the picture is displaye d, you can: ! Review it: If you take no actio n, the pictur e is saved.
23 Chapter 2 Using the Optical Zoom Use Optical Zoom t o get up to 4X closer to your subject . Optical zoom i s effective when t he lens is no clo ser than 19.7 in . (50 cm) to the su bject. When you turn on the camera, the lens extends to the Wide Angle position.
24 Chapter 2 Using the Fl ash Use the flash when you ta ke picture s at night, in doors, or outd oors in heavy shadows. F lash is ef fective bet ween 1.6-16.7 ft (0.5-5. 1 m) in Wide angle and between 2.5-8.5 ft (0 .75- 2.6 m) i n Tel ephoto. The fla sh settin g can be chan ged in any Still mode.
25 Chapter 2 Flas h Setti ngs I n Each Mode For the best possible pi ctures, flash settings a re pre-set for each pict ure taking mode. * In these modes, when you change to Re d-eye, it remains until you change it.
26 Chapter 2 Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self T imer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutte r butto n and the time the picture is take n. 1 Place the camera on a flat surface or u se a tripod. 2 In any Still mode, press the Se lf T imer butto n.
27 Chapter 2 Taking a B urst Series of Pictures Burst lets you to take up to 6 pictures in quick succession (app roximate ly 3 frames per seco nd). Burst i s ideal for capturing sp orting event s or obj ects in motion. Flash and Self T imer are disabl ed when you use Burst.

33 Chapter 2 Setting White Balance Whites can look whit e in daylight , but diff erent under other light ing condit ions. Use White Balance to correct the color shifts that result from shooting pictures under differe nt light sourc es. NOTE: White Balanc e is available in Landscap e, Close-up, and P AS modes.
34 Chapter 2 Setting ISO Speed The ISO setting controls the camera ’ s sensitivity to light. Us e a lower ISO setting in brightly lit scenes; use a higher ISO setting for low-light scenes. NOTE: ISO settings are available in Landscape, Close-up, and PAS modes.
35 Chapter 2 Setting Long Time Exposure In Landscap e mode, u se Long T ime Exposure t o control how l ong the shutter stays open and to portray a sense of motion. Setti ngs range from 0.7 to 4 seconds. NOTE: Long Time Exposure cannot be used with Exp osure Compensation or manual ISO speed setting.
36 Chapter 2 Setting Exposure Metering Y our camera uses matrix meterin g to set exposure valu es; it evaluat es light leve ls in multip le l ocatio ns wi thin the sc ene to provi de the b est expo sur e for the main subj ect. Use Exposure Metering to target specific areas of a scene for evaluatio n.
37 Chapter 2 Setting Focus Zone If you do not get the composit ion and focus resul ts you want by using framin g marks ( page 21 ), use the Focus Zone feature to select a large or a concentrated area of focus. NOTE: Focus Zone is avai lable in Close-up and PAS modes.
38 Chapter 2 Resetting PAS Settings to Defaults Reset is avai lable in P AS mode onl y; it returns all se ttings to the original factory defaults. Reset does not change settings for any mode excep t P A S. See page 28 for a li st of the set tings. 1 In any S till mode, press the Menu butt on.

78 Chapter 9 Installing the Rechargea ble Battery Y ou received a non-rechargeable CRV3 starter battery with your camera. T o take full advantage of your camera dock 6000, replace the CRV3 battery with the Kodak EasyShare Ni-MH recharge able battery pack that is packaged wit h the camera d ock.
79 Chapter 9 Docking the Camera T o charge the battery or to transfer pictures and videos from the came ra to the computer: 1 Flip dow n the camera dock foot . The camera dock now sits at the proper angle for viewing the cam era screen. 2 T urn off the camera.

81 Chapter 9 Transferring Pic tures With th e Dock After the Kodak Ea syShare software is loaded on your computer (see p age 71 ), you can transfer pictures and videos fro m your camera to your computer . 1 T urn off t he camera and place it in the camera dock.
82 Chapter 9 Reviewing Pictures and Videos When the camera is in the dock, the camera is powered by the dock , not the camera batteries. Save battery power by using the doc k to review pictures and videos on the camera screen. 1 T urn on the camera and place it in the camera dock.
