Getting started 2 Loading the batteries T wo AA non-recharge able starter batteries are incl uded with your camer a. 1 Mak e sure the Mode dial is set to Off (s ee page 4 ). 2 On the bottom of the ca mera, slide the battery door and lift to open . 3 Insert the AA batteries , as shown.

Getting started 5 Changing the display Selecting a language Selecting a language, first time T he Language screen appears the fi rst time you turn on the camera. ■ Press to highlight a language , then press the OK button. The Set Date & Time screen is displa yed in the langua ge you selected (see Setting the date and time, first time ).

T aking p ictures and vide os 9 Capture modes Use this mode For Auto General picture-taking. Automati cally sets exposure, focus, and flash. Portrait Full-frame port raits of people. Subject is sharp and the background is indistinct. Subject sh ould be at least 6 ft (2 m) away and fill the frame with a head and should ers pose.
T aking pictures and videos 10 Using the camera screen as a viewfinder NO TE: T o prolong battery life , use the L iveview feature sparingly . 1 T urn the Mode dial to any Still mode . 2 Press the OK button to turn on the camera screen. 3 F rame your subject in t he camera screen.
T aking p ictures and vide os 11 Using optical zoom Use optical zoom to get up to 2X clos er to your subject. Optical zoom is effective when the lens is no clo ser than 19.7 in. (50 cm) to the subject. Y ou can change optical zoom b efore (but not during) video recording.
T aking pictures and videos 12 Using the flash Use the flash when you tak e pictures at night, indoors , or outdoors in heavy shadows . NO TE: Flash is unav ailable in Video mode . Choosing a flash option NO TE: T he default flash setting is restored when you exit the mode or tu rn off the camer a (see page 13 ).
T aking p ictures and vide os 13 Flash settings in each mode F or the best possible pictures , flash se ttings are prese t for each capture mode. * When you change to Red-eye in these modes , it remains until you c hange it. All other flash settings return to the de fault when you edit the mode or turn off the camera.
T aking pictures and videos 14 Changing picture-taking settings Y ou can change se ttings to get the be st results from your cam era: 1 Press the Menu bu tton. 2 Press to highlight the setting you wish to change , then press the OK button. 3 Choose an option, then press the OK button.
T aking p ictures and vide os 15 Picture Quality (Still modes) Set picture resolution. This setting remains until y ou change it. Best (default)— (2.0 MP) for printing up to 8 x 10 in. (20 x 25 cm). Best (3:2) — (1.8 MP) ideal for printing 4 x 6 in.
T aking pictures and videos 16 Putting yourself in the picture or video Use Self T imer to create a 10-second delay between the time you pr ess the Shutter button and the time t he picture or video is tak en. 1 T urn the Mode dial to any Still mode for pictures , or to Video for videos , then press the Menu button.
T aking p ictures and vide os 17 Pre-tagging for album names Use the Set Album (Still or Video) feature to pre-select album names before you tak e p ictures . T hen, all the pictures o r videos you tak e are tagged with those album names . First—on your computer Use K odak EasyShare software , V 3.
T aking pictures and videos 18 Customizing your camera Use the Setup Menu to customize your camer a settings . 1 Press the Menu bu tton. 2 Press to highlight Setup M enu , then press the OK button. 3 Highlight the setting you wish to change , then press the OK button .
T aking p ictures and vide os 19 Date Stamp (Still modes) Imprint the date on pictures. This setting remains until you change it. Turn the Date Stamp on or off, or change the date stamp format. Video Date Display (Video mode) Display capture date and time before the video starts.
20 3 Reviewing pictures and videos Press the Review button to view and wo rk with your pictures and videos . T o save battery power , purchase a K odak 3- volt AC adapter or place your camer a in a compatible K odak EasyShare camera dock or printer dock.

Reviewing pictur es and videos 23 Protecting pictures and videos from deletion 1 Press the Review button, then locate the picture or video to protect. 2 Press the Menu bu tton. 3 Press to highl ight Prot ect , then press the OK button. The picture or vid eo is protect ed and cann ot be deleted.
Reviewing pictures and videos 24 4 Highlight an album folder , then press the OK button. The album name appears with the pictur e. A plus (+) after the album name means the picture was added to more than one album. ■ T o add other pictures to the same al bum, press to scroll throug h the pictures .
Reviewing pictur es and videos 25 Changing the slide show display interval T he default interv al setting di splays each picture for 5 seconds . Y ou can increase the display interv al to up to 60 seconds . 1 On the Slide Show menu, press to highlight In terval, then p ress the OK button.

27 4 Installing the softwar e Minimum system requirements NO TE: Mac OS 8.6 and 9.x do not support the Share button functions . Mac OS X version 10.2.3 or 10.3 is recommended for full functionality . To download EasyShar e software for M ac OS 8.6 and 9.
Installing th e software 28 Install the software CAUTION: Install K odak EasyShare softwar e before connecting the camera or optional camera dock to the computer . F a ilure to do so may cause the software to load incorrectly . 1 Close all softw are applications that are open on your computer (including anti-virus software).
29 5 Sharing pictur es and videos NO TE: T ags remain until removed. If a tagged picture or video is copied , the tag is not copied. If you tag a picture just after taking a burst series (see page 14 ), only the last picture is tagged. Tagging pictures for printing 1 Press the Share button.
Sharing pictures a nd videos 30 4 Press to select the number of copies (0 - 99). T he default is one . Zero removes the tag for a selected picture . The Print icon is displayed in the status area. ■ T o apply a print quantity to other pictures , press to locate them.
Sharing pictur es and videos 31 ■ T o remove a selection, hi ghlight a check ed address , then press the OK button. ■ T o remove all email selections , highl ight Clear All, then press the OK button. 5 Highlight Exit, then press the OK b utton. The selections are saved.

T roubleshooting 35 Computer/connectivity problems You cannot take a picture ■ T urn the camera off , then on again. ■ Depress the Shutter button all the way ( page 8 ). ■ Insert new batteries . If using rechargeable batteries , charge before inserting ( page 2 and page 3 ).
