3 Assembling the Burners Check y our mode l number . Then refer to the f ollowing for inf or mation specific to your burners . Standard and Dual Flame Burners ■ Burner caps and spreaders are incl uded with y our cooktop . ■ Alwa ys match the burner spread er size to the cap siz e.
4 Grate Placement T o install th e grates , align the feet on the center grate with the indents on the cooktop. Then install the 2 outer grates by aligning the tabs on the center gr ate with the slots in the out er grates. Be sure t o line up the slots and tabs f or proper gr ate alignment.
5 Griddle (on KCGS 9 series models) The griddle pro vides a large surf ace for cook ing meats, pancak es, sandwiches , etc. The drip tra y can be located tow a rd the front or bac k of the cooktop. The griddle ca n be used on an y of the cooktop gr ates, b ut for best performance, use the center bur ner .
6 Selecting the pr oper flame size The flame siz e should match the cookware y ou are using. W atch the flame, not the knob , to adjust the he at. A flame larger than the bottom of the cookw are wastes energ y and will heat the handl e. ■ High flame - Star t f ood cooking, bring water to a boi l, pan broiling.
7 Burners will not operate If this is the first time the cooktop is being used , tur n on any one of t he burner knobs to release air from the gas lines. Be sure the control knob is push ed in bef ore tu r ning to a setting. A burner por t (hol e) ma y be clogged or the igniter may need cleaning.
