MICROWAVE HOOD COMBINATION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS MICROWAVE HOOD COMBINATION SAFETY This pro duct is suitable for us e above electric or gas cooking pr oducts up to and including 30" (76.2 c m) wide. See “Installati on Requirements” section for further notes.
2 INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS The microwave oven is set for r ecirculation installation. For exte rnal (wall or roof) venting, se e “V enting Design Specificatio ns” sect ion. Tools and Parts T ools Needed Gather the r equir ed tools and part s befor e starting installation.
3 Installation Dimensions NOTE: The grounded 3 prong outlet must be inside the upper cabinet. See “Electrical Requir ements” section. * 33" (83.2 cm) is typical for 69" (175.3 cm) inst allation height. Exact dimension may vary depending on type of range/cooktop below .
4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Remove Mounting Plate NOTE: T o avoid possible damage to the work surface, cover the work surface. 1. Remove any remaining co ntents from the microwav e oven cavity . 2. Remove the mounting plate by peeling off the strips of tape that attach it to the back of the microw ave oven, and set the mounting plate aside.
5 3. When the vent de flector is a s far back as it can easily sl ide, flip it so that the wide side is to the back of the microwave oven , and the narrow side (with holes) is down. The vent deflector holes should align with mounti ng holes in the vent opening, as shown in inset.
6 Locate Wall Stud(s) NOTE: If no wall studs exist within the cabin et opening, do not install the microwave oven. See illustrat ions in “Possible W all Stud Configurati ons.” 1. Using a stud finder , locate the ed ges of the wall stud(s) wit hin the opening.
7 Mark Rear Wall The microwave oven must be inst alled on a minimum of 1 wall stud, preferably 2 , using a minimum of 1 lag screw , preferably 2. 1. Using measuring tape, find an d clearly mark the vertical centerlin e of the open ing. A. Centerline 2.
8 Attach Mounting Plate to Wall NOTE: Secure the mounting plate to the wall at both bottom cor ner holes drill ed into the wa ll studs and/or drywall using either 1/4-20 x 3" r ound-he ad bolts and toggle nuts or 1 /4 x 2" lag screws.
9 5. Cut the 1 ¹⁄₂ " (3.8 cm) diameter hole at the circu lar shaded ar ea “G” on the template. This hole is for the power supply cor d. NOTE: If upper cabinet is metal, the supply cord bushing needs to be installed ar ound the supply cor d hole, as shown.
10 For Roof V enting Installation Only 1. Insert damper assembly through th e cabinet cutou t so that the long tab of the damper assembly slid es into the slot on the left side of the damper vent opening, as shown. Then secu re with mounting scr ew . NOTE: The screw cannot be instal led if the damper assembly is not positioned as shown.
11 VENTING DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS This section is i ntended fo r ar chitectural designer and builder/contractor refer ence only . NOTES: ■ V ent materials needed for instal lation are not pr ovided with microw ave hood. ■ W e do not recommend using a flexible metal vent.
Recommended V ent Length A 3 ¹⁄₄ " x 10 " (8.3 x 25.4 cm) r ectangular or 6 " (15.2 cm) ro und vent should be used. The total lengt h of the vent sys tem includin g straight vent, elbow(s), transitions and wall or roof caps must not exc eed the equivalent of 140 ft (42.
