7 Loading the T op Rack The to p rack is designe d for cups, g lasses, and smaller ite ms. Many it ems, up to 9 in (22 cm ), fit in the top rack. (See r ecommen ded load ing patterns sho wn.) NOTE: The feat ures on your dishwashe r rack may vary fro m the dra wi ngs sh ow n .

9 Loading the Silverware Basket Load the silverwar e basket while it is in the bo ttom r ack or take the ba sket out for loading on a counter or table . NOTE: Unload or rem ove the basket before unload ing the racks to avoid spilling water dr oplets on the silverwar e.
10 How mu ch detergent to use ■ The am ount of deter gent to use d epends on the har dness of your wa ter and the type o f deter gent. If you use to o litt le, dishes wo n’t b e clean. If y ou use too mu ch in soft wa ter , glasswar e will etch. ■ W ater har dness ca n change o ver a per iod of tim e.
11 Dishwasher Efficiency T ips Hot wat er dissolves and ac tivates the dishwash ing deter gent. Hot wat er also dissolves gr ease on dishes and h elps glasses dry spot-fr ee. For b est dishwashin g re sults, water must be at least 120°F (4 9°C) as it ent ers t he dishw asher .
