Since its formation in 1961, KEF has pioneer ed many inno vations in loudspeak er technolog y and design. Y our new Refer ence Series loudspeakers contain one of the latest of these advances - the KEF ‘Project Austin’ Uni-Q driv er arra y .
7 Four driv e units in a three-wa y configuration are employ ed in the Model 205/2. The single Uni-Q driver ar ra y for upper mid-range and high frequencies with ultrasonic extension, and a pair of 200mm (8in.) drive units in IDL configuration for low fr equencies.
8 These Refer ence Series loudspeak ers are pack ed one loudspeak er per car ton. Prior to unpacking, please ensure that the serial n umbers of the loudspeak ers supplied match each other . Then, unpack the loudspeak ers carefully and inspect for an y sign of damage .

KEF Refer ence Series loudspeak ers are fitted with purpose designed gold-plated T ri-wire/T ri-amp terminals which will accept bare wir e , spade or 4mm connectors.
16 HF Adjustment The ‘HF Adjust’ A and B terminals control the high frequency output of the loudspeak er . This facility allows the user to adjust the ‘brightness’ of the loudspeak er to suit listening room acoustics, partnering electr onics and personal taste.
T ri-wiring/T ri-amping T erminals The three sets of input terminals ar e linked by a high quality shorting cable . Removal of this cable will allow the LF , MF and HF sections to be connected separat.

KEF was founded in 1961 by an electrical engineer named Ra ymond Cooke in a Nissen Hut on the premises of a metal working operation called K ent Engineering & Foundry (hence KEF), on the banks of the River Medwa y , near Maidstone in K ent.
30 By 1973 the company was de veloping the concept of computer assisted ‘T otal System’ design, at a time when the world’ s v er y first 4-bit micropr ocessor was still in its infancy .
KEF’ s acclaimed Reference Series Under new ownership in 1992 KEF Audio f ound itself equipped with new ideas, ne w personalities and new pr oducts. But the same philosophies of solid engineering and innovation to pr ovide the finest quality product a vailable at its particular price-point remained firml y at the bed-rock.
The millennium ushered in a ne w era of groundbr eaking audio innovation. Among the most important was the launch of a new Refer ence Series - the forerunner of toda y’ s design - in 2002. This redefined the benchmark for high-end loudspeak ers by incorporating signature KEF technologies such as Uni-Q and the ‘pod’ concept.
