P age 16 4 METRONOME 4. METR ONOME Rh ythm is one of the most impor tant elements when lear ning music. It is impor tant to practice pla ying the piano at the correct tempo and with a steady rh ythm. The metronome function helps lear ners to achiev e this by providing a steady beat to perf or m to .
P age 17 4 METRONOME CHANGING THE METRONOME TIME SIGNA TURE Step 3 By def ault, the metronome will produce a clicking sound at a constant v olume - this is a 1-beat or 1/4 time signature. It is also possible to select alternative time signatures when appropriate.

P age 28 7 MENU FUNCTIONS 3) STRING RESONANCE String Resonance refers to a phenomenon present among acoustic pianos , whereby the strings of held notes resonate ‘sympathetically’ with other notes of the same harmonic ser ies. The String Resonance function of the CA111 piano attempts to simulate this phenomenon.
P age 29 7 MENU FUNCTIONS About String Resonance Even when the damper pedal is not depressed on an acoustic piano , the str ings f or any notes held will be un-dampened and will resonate freely in sympathy with the strings of other notes that y ou play if the y are par t of the same harmonic series.
P age 30 7 MENU FUNCTIONS 4) KEY OFF EFFECT Especially f or low-pitched sounds, when a k ey is pla yed strongly and released quic kly , the sound of the damper touching the strings can often be heard immediately before the sound stops . The Ke y Off Eff ect function of the CA111 piano attempts to simulate this phenomenon.
P age 31 7 MENU FUNCTIONS 5) T OUCH The T ouch function allows diff erent touch sensitivities for the k eyboard to be selected, other than the standard touch of an acoustic piano . The sensitivity can be changed to one of six diff erent settings: Light, Light +, Nor mal, Heavy , Heavy +, or Off .
