11 Gett ing S tarte d English Using th e Remote Co ntrol The Remote Co ntrol makes it easy t o use many of the functi ons of the System from a dist ance of up to 7 m away. The r emote sens or at which you need to poin t the Re mote Cont rol di ffers depe nding o n wheth er the Uni t is pla ced vertica lly or horiz ontally.
12 English Basic Operations Turning the Pow er On and O ff Turning the System On Press the % bu tton. The displa y comes on and “ HELLO ” appears onc e. The op- eration indicators appear on the Panel. (The Panel opens au- tomatically if the Unit is placed vertically and th e DISP.
13 Basic Operat ions English Changin g the Color (COLOR) (VS-DT88V o nly) (Using the Remo te Control) You can ch ange the c olor of the illumina tion on the Un it. 1 Press the % button to turn on the Sys- tem. 2 Press the COLOR button. “ RANDOM COLOR ” appears.
14 Basic Ope rations English Reinforc ing the Bass Sound (AHB PRO) (Using the Remo te Control) You can reinfo rce the bass sound to main tain rich, full b ass at low volu me. To get the effect, press the AHB (Active Hyper Bass) PRO but ton. The “ AHB PRO ” indicator appears on the display.
15 English Using the Tuner You can listen to F M and AM stations. Stations can be tuned in manually, automatically, or from preset memory storage. ■ Before listening to the radio: • Make sure that bot h the FM and AM antennas are correctly co nnected.
16 Using t he Tuner English ● Auto Tuning If you pr ess and hold the 4 PRE V. or NEXT ¢ ( or ) butt on for one second or more, the fre- quency changes down, or up, au tomatically until a statio n is found.
17 English Using the CD Player You can use No rmal, Rand om, Program or Repeat pla y. Repeat Play can re peat all the tracks o r just one of the t racks on the CD. Here are the basic thi ngs you need to know to play a CD and locate the different t racks on it.
18 Using the CD Play er English How are MP3 files recorded and played back? MP3 “ tracks (files) ” can be re cord ed in “ groups ” — folders or di rectories, in PC term inolo gy. During r ecording, the t racks and groups can be arranged similarly to the t racks and folders/directo ries of co mputer data.
19 Using the CD Play er English The Quick est Way to Start a CD i s with the One Touch Ope ration ■ Press the CD SE LECT 3¥8 butto n on the R emote Co n- trol. • The po wer is au tomatically turned on. I f a CD is already in serted, it will start playing from the f irst track.
