3 About discs This sy stem has been d esigned to pl ay back the following discs: D VD VIDEO, D VD A UDIO, V ideo CD (VCD), Super V ideo CD (SVCD), Audio CD (CD), CD-R and CD-R W . • This syste m accommoda tes the NTSC sys tem, and also can play discs recorded with P AL system.
About discs 4 Notes on CD-R and CD-RW • User-edited CD-Rs (Recordable) and CD-R Ws (Rewritable) can be playe d back on ly if th ey are already “ fina lized ” . • When m akin g your own dis c, sele ct IS O 9660 Level 1 or Level 2 for the disc format.

13 Basic operations IMPORTANT Before using the remote control for the following operatio n, • Set t he remo te con trol mode select or to AUDIO . On the remote co ntrol: Press AUD IO. On the center u nit: Press . When DVD is selected as the so urce (see page 14), the follo wing messages will appear o n the TV screen.
Basic operations 14 On the remote contr ol: Press one of the source selecting buttons (DVD, FM/AM, AUX or AUX DIGITAL). DV D : T o play bac k a disc (DVD VIDEO, VCD etc.). (See page 16 .) FM/AM : T o tune in an FM or AM st ation. (S ee page 35.) Each tim e you press th e button, th e band altern ates between FM and AM.
