2 Introduction 7 Important cautions Installation of the system • Select a plac e which is le vel, dr y and neither too hot nor too cold; between 5°C and 35°C. • Leav e suff icient distance be tween the system and the TV . • Do not use the system in a place su bject to vibration.
3 About discs This system has been designed to play back the following d iscs: D VD VIDEO, D VD A UDIO, V ideo CD (VCD), Super V ideo CD (SVCD), Audio CD (CD), CD-R and CD-R W . • This system accommodates the P A L system, and also can play discs recorded with NTSC system.
About discs 4 Notes on MP3/WMA/JPEG/MPE G4 discs • MP3/WMA/JPEG /MPEG4 discs (e ither CD-R or CD-R W) require a longer readout time. (It dif fers due to the complexity of the directory/file configuration.) • When making an MP3/WMA/JPEG /MPEG4 disc, select ISO 9660 Lev el 1 or Lev el 2 for the disc format.

CAUTION • Do not expose batteries to heat or flame. Operating the system from the remote control Aim the remote contro l directly to the front panel of the center unit.
8 Connections 7 AM (MW) loop antenna Setting up su pplied AM (MW) loop antenn a Connecting AM ( MW) loop antenna • T urn the loop antenna until you ha v e the best reception during AM (MW) broadcast program reception. NOTE • Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch any other terminals, connecting cords and power cords.
Connections 9 The following procedur e explains the front speaker assembly . The assembly of both the front and surround speakers ar e done in the same manner . NOTE • The stands and the base plates are commonly used for both front a nd surround speakers assembly.
Connections 10 CAUTION • When you connect speakers other than the supplied ones, use speakers of the same speaker impedance (SPEAKER IMPED ANCE) indicated near the speaker terminals on the rear of the po wered subwoofer . • DO NO T connect more than one speaker to one speaker terminal.

Connections 12 Setting up the wireless receiver unit 1 Make sure that the CHANNEL SELECTOR is set to the 1 position. 2 Fully extend the telescopic antenna upright. • If necessary , turn the telescopic antenna until y ou have the best reception while hearing the sound of the surround speakers.
Connections 13 NOTE • Although the satellite speakers and the powered subwoofer are magnetically shielded, the TV screen may appear mottled. In this case, keep enough distanc e between the speakers and the TV. • The speakers are m agnetically shielded to avoid color distortions on TVs.
Connections 14 Y ou can enjoy the sound of an analog component. NOTE • If you connect a sound-enhancing device such as a graphic equalizer between the source components and this system, the sound output through this system may be distorted.
15 Operating external components with the remote control NOTE • Manufacturers’ codes are subj ect to change without notice. • Set the codes again after replacing th e batteries of the remote control. 7 To set the manufact urer’s code Y ou can operate a JVC TV without setting the manufacturer’ s code.

( A pg. 21) FM/AM : T o tune in an FM or AM (MW) station. ( A pg. 41) Each time you press the b utton, the band altern ates between FM and AM (MW).
Basic operations 19 The system turns of f automatically when the specified period of time has passed. Press SLEEP. Each time you press the button, the shut-of f time changes. Example: To check the remaining time Press SLEEP once. To change the remaining time Press SLEEP r epeatedly .

T o preve nt this, the system automatically dims the screen if a static picture is displayed for o ver 5 minutes (the screen save r function). • Pressing any b utton will cancel the screen saver function.
