12 T urning Off the Sounds T emporarily Pr ess MUTING to mute the sound. “ MUTING ” appears on the display and the v olume turns of f (the V OLUME indication goes off). • When DVD is selected as the sour ce with your TV turned on, “ V OLUME –” a ppears on the TV .
13 Selecting the Analog or Digital Input Mode W hen y ou ha v e connected digital source components using both the analog connection and the digital connection methods (see page s 7 t o 10), you can select the input mode.
14 Attenuating the Input Signal When the input lev el of the analog source is too high, the sounds will be distorted. If this happens, you need to attenuate the input signal lev el to prevent the sound distortion. • Y ou ha ve to make this adjustment for each analog source .
15 By pressing the following b uttons, you can pause, advance, or rev erse pla yback, and locate the beginning of the title, cha pter , or track. 17 T uning into Stations Manually On the fr ont panel: 1 Press FM/AM to select the band. The last recei ved sta tion of the selected band is tuned in. The CONTR OL buttons no w work for tuner operations. • Each time you pr ess the b utton, the band alternates betw een FM and AM.
18 Selecting the FM Reception Mode When an FM ster eo br oadcast is hard to receiv e or noisy , you can change the FM r eception mode while r eceiving an FM broadcast. • Y ou can store the FM reception mode for each pr eset station. Befor e you start, remember .
19 T uner Operations What information can RDS signals pr ovide? Y ou can see the RDS signals the sta tion sends on the display . Press DISPLA Y w hile listening to an FM station to show the RDS signals.

24 7 Speaker infor mation —“ SUBWFR (subwoofer), ” “ FRNT SP (front speaker), ” “ CNTR SP (center speaker), ” and “ REAR SP (r ear speaker) ” T o obtain the best possib le effect from the Surround modes (see pages 29 to 32), register the following inf ormation after all connections are completed.
25 Basic Settings 7 Crossover frequency —“ CROSS (cr ossover) ” Small speak ers cannot reproduce the bass sounds eff iciently . If you use a small speaker in an y position, this unit automatically reallocates the bass sound elements assigned to the small speaker to the large speak ers.
26 7 Auto surround —“ AUTO SR ” Surround mode is automatically acti vated when the digital multichannel source such as Dolby Digital or DTS Digital Surround software or 2-channel matrix source such as Dolby Surround is played back.
27 The following settings are r equired after connecting and positioning y our speakers. Y ou can adjust the items by using the ADJUST b utton and CONTR OL 5 / ∞ / 2 / 3 buttons on the front panel.
28 7 Fr ont speaker output balance —“ BAL (balance) ” If the sounds you hear from the front right and left speakers are unequal, you can adjust the speaker output balance. Adjust the output balance appropriately from the listening point within the range of R (Right) – 21 to CENTER (0) or CENTER (0) to L (Left) – 21.

39 DVD Player Operations Changing the Languages — SUBTITLE and AUDIO While playing back D VD VIDEO/D VD A UDIO/SVCD containing subtitles in dif ferent languages, you can select the subtitle language to be displayed on the TV . The icon a ppears a t the beginning of playback when the current scene has plural subtitles.

Y ou can also pla y a disc fr om the specif ied time . 7 Locating a desir ed chapter/track — Chapter/T rack Search When playing back D VD VIDEO/D VD A UDIO, y ou can search for the chapter/track number to be played.

48 7 Selecting a still picture Most D VD A UDIO include still pictures, which usually appear in turn automatically during playback according to the playback sequence. Y ou can change the picture (turn the page) man ually w hen the current still picture has selectable pages.
49 MP3 Disc Playback This unit can play back MP3 f iles on a CD-R or CD-RW . W e call such a disc “ MP3 disc ” in this instruction. • Before using the remote control, press DVD to change the remote contr ol oper ation mode for the MP3 disc operations.

53 Button CHOICE 5 / ∞ 3 / 2 ENTER To do Display the choice menu on the TV. Each time you press the button, the choice menu is turned on and off alternately. Select an item. Adjust the selected item on the choice menu. Move to the submenu of the selected item or decide the setting.

63 Operating JVC ’ s Audio/V ideo Components You can operate JVC ’ s audio and video components with this unit ’ s remote control, since control signals for JVC ’ s components are preset in the remote control.
64 7 VCR Y ou can always perform the following oper ations: ST ANDBY/ON VCR : T urns on or of f the VCR. After pr essing VCR, you can perform the following oper ations on a VCR: 1 – 9, 0 : Selects the TV channels on a VCR. For channel number 5, press 5.
65 Operating Other Manufactur ers ’ Equipment This remote control supplied with the unit can transmit control signals for other manufacturers ’ TVs, STBs, and VCRs. POSSIBLE CAUSE The AM loop antenna is too close to the unit. The supplied FM antenna is not properly extended and positioned.
